[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]10715808_10204838982762744_356847246_nThe winners of the 4th Round of our #MusicMonday series are a Tacoma duo by the name of F.A.M.E. (Family and Music Expression). The duo won the contest by a landslide which showcased their established fan support and social media reach. Through numerous email exchanges I got to know the guys a little better and would like to introduce our followers to Kid Mystro and Drew Clouds.

(We are also currently accepting new submissions for our music monday series, send press releases and embedable track/video to info@respectmyregion.com)

1. First off, where you guys from? More specifically where do you reside and what city/town do you represent?

We are both from Washington and grew up in Tacoma. we represent the 253 but want our music to expand throughout the northwest reaching audiences in Seattle, Portland, Cali, ect.

2. When did you first start making music, and when did you realize you wanted to make it more than a hobby?

Mystro: I first started making music the beginning of my freshmen year of college in 09′. A couple of my friends set up a home studio in the basement, our group was named The Authentics. I realized I wanted to make music more than a hobby in 2012 when my skills were more refined as an artist.
DC: I started writing music in 2007 my senior year of high school. Kanye’s “Graduation” was a big influence on me and ever since I heard that album I knew I wanted to make music my career.

3. How many hours would you suggest you have under your belt writing, performing, and recording?

Mystro: I have countless hours writing and recording. I’m in the studio daily either before or after work. Due to my focus in school I haven’t been able to perform, but upon my graduation me and DC are ready to take this music to the next level and start performing numerous shows.
DC: I have almost 8 years of writing/recording under my belt but now that me and Mystro are in a situation where we are more focused and goal-oriented we want to add performances to our belts as well.

4. Being family did you guys start rapping together or did you connect a little later down the line over the shared interest in spitting?

We connected later on down the line. I knew DC rapped but he never knew i did until i reached out to him for a feature. We both were in groups at various points in time and we agreed the people around us weren’t as focused or passionate about the music as we where so we agreed to start our own group and chase the dream together.

5. What studio are you currently recording at?

As unsigned artists it’s hard paying for everything to get the top notch quality we want but we strive to get the best we can afford. Right now we record all our songs in our home studio with our own mic. Its cheap and there are no time limits, meaning we get to record until we perfect the song.

10723221_10204510590866420_915618538_n6. What are some local artists you think are really putting on for the region?

Mystro: Definitely Raz Simone. A friend put me on him a while back. Dude’s passion shows in every song.
DC: L Dot Hammond is a local cat to watch out for. In all honesty we can’t say one artist has worked harder or reps the city more because we’re all focused on developing our craft and trying to achieve goals and dreams as artists.

7. Favorite thing about the Northwest?

We love the different types of weather, the beautiful green scenery, and out of any other place we’ve been to it seems like we have the freshest air up here.

8. Favorite food spot in Tacoma?

DC: Love eating teriyaki and Pho.
Mystro: My favorite food spot is at my grannies crib eating a big bowl of gumbo. I swear nobody can cook better than this woman.

9. Lastly for your current fans, what is something interesting about you guys that they may not know?

Mystro: Something fans might not know about me is that i have a Bachelors degree from the University of Kansas.
DC: One interesting thing about me is my music started from writing poetry in high school. My teacher said I was very creative with expressing myself through words.
