TxE drops their latest single, CLIMB, off the upcoming ‘Vs PRTLND‘ full length. G-Force drops an ill emotional laced beat over a sample of fellow Portland music artist, Typhoon. The beat builds nice to some boom bap’ish drums as TOPE and Epp match the feel of the vocal sample and horns with tales of the past.
After taking a break to release four solo projects within the group (A Different Animal, Trouble Man, Chrome Plated Chronicles, & Suicide Doors), TxE is gearing to release a full length project with some release parties scheduled towards the end of the year. This project will feature samples from local rock/pop groupds form the Portland area.
“The upcoming TxE vs. PRTLND finds the emcees spitting over samples of Portland rock and pop acts, from STRFKR to Sallie Ford to Brainstorm, and as this first single shows, it ain’t going to be another disastrous rap-rock hybrid. On ‘Climb,’ G_Force reworks Typhoon’s ‘Belly of the Cavern,’ from 2010’s Hunger and Thirst, into a sultry, quiet-storm head-nodder, while maintaining the dynamic peaks and valleys the chamber-pop orchestra is known for. It sets an emotionally poignant foundation for Tope and Epp’s verses about loved ones lost.”
