A New Face, Making Big Moves.

Marcos Sanchez, AKA Coaster, is a new face to the Northwest hip/hop rap scene. A product of Selah, he has followed his dreams and has begun to make a name for himself. Sanchez started rapping and writing at the age of 13. Playing around with parodies and such. ” My cousin kind of forced me to start rapping” says Coaster. “He said that if I didn’t, I would find myself in jail. School wasn’t important and this it was really all I had”. Now, his cousin, Managing and a huge supporter of Sanchez, seems to be proud of helping him become something great.

At the age of 17, Marcos dropped out of high school to follow his dreams. Moving to Vegas and becoming a part of the Dope City Records was just the first step. After moving, recording a new track here and there, he realized this was not going how he had planned. No one took him seriously. “Those guys had music to fall back on, me, I really didn’t have anything.”

Sanchez decided it was time to come back to his roots. When he returned, he recorded his first mix tape. With just an old mic, computer, and very little to work with in an extra room at his grandmothers house. He made the best of it. Levi Brewer, also a Selah native, helped Coaster out the best he could. Making beats, recording songs, and promoting. The two started by sticking to what they knew and was important to them. It wasn’t very long until Marcos decided to branch out and improve himself. Now you would think as someone who has such a drive and passion for music and recording, he would be open, laid back and relaxed. He is the total opposite, shy and self conscious. ”
It doesn’t matter if it is 20 people or 500, I will always get beyond nervous. Every time I set foot on that stage.” Now as time has passed, he is starting to feel a little more comfortable on stage and with the mic.

” I have no plan B. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life. No doubt.”  These are definitely words spoken by someone who loves what he does. It is a good thing he has become a little more comfortable on the stage because, this kid is about to make his biggest step yet. On April 6th, Coaster will be opening for the one and only Tyga here in Yakima.”  This show could be a make or break situation for me.”  he says, ” It could also be the biggest punch in the face, but it wont stop me from following my dreams and bettering myself.”

The Tyga show has already sold over 1,600 tickets, so lets hope he is prepared to take this challenge on. This guy has a large amount of respect for those who support him. ” This has been a huge impact on myself and my family.” He embraces where he is from, and not many are like that. “I was quiet in school, hardly any friends and now look at me.”  He has now realized who true friends are, who his dedicated fans are and the people that don’t matter are.

Coaster will be performing at the Past time bar this sunday at 6 pm for the “Save The Selah Youth Center” fundraiser. “I know no matter what, where I go, and what I do, my community has my back” You can check out Coasters latest mixture “Brain Food” along with other tracks at his Reverb Nation page.
