Portland rapper Cool Nutz has announced that he will be an official artist performing at the 2018 SXSW festival on Friday, March 16th, at Buffalo Billiards. He joins heavy-hitters Dave East, Rex Life Raj, and more where he will be performing select tracks from his latest album Terrance, which has received praise as being one of his best albums to date when compared with his prolific 14 total projects.
On his latest hit album, Cool Nutz features E-40, Mitchy Slick, and Drae Steves, all of which amplify his strength as an artist and his growing popularity in the rap game. Aside from booking a high-profile performance at a nationally-acclaimed festival, Cool Nutz also recently released a new single titled “Up” that features Nipsey Hustle Bosko, and Anael Jeannis.
Produced by Cee Goods, the single leads with a loose sound carried by free-flowing synths, which is later contrasted with hard-hitting claps and snares. The production is clean and smooth, its non-invasive sound leading the listener to instead focus on the meaning within the song. The lyrics leave little to the imagination – with poignant lines such as “My dead homies problems still standing here”, it’s clear to the listener that “Up” is meant as both a commentary about life, and about the difficult realities the artist faces daily.
The single features clever and thoughtful lyrics that fit perfectly into the catchy, rhythmic consistency set by all four artists. To listen to “Up”, as well as his latest project Terrance, please choose from your preferred streaming platform below:
