JayPing’s Recap Of Day 1 At Paradiso 2016

Thursday night at the Gorge brought about dangerously powerful wind and created weather conditions that campers did not account for going into the festival. After a solid night of partying in general camping, Friday morning came around and it was quite chilly. The wind had picked up and was so strong that it literally blew people’s campsites away!

By 1:00 pm, the weather was too much for Main Stage to handle and delays were announced through the official Paradiso app. The weather delays had thousands of frustrated fans waiting in line until about 3pm before doors were opened. Once inside the venue, I was pretty disappointed to learn that Beauflexx played his entire hour-long set for ZERO fans at The Wreckage stage and we weren’t even able to capture any footage or photos!

Main Stage didn’t start up until around 5 so I was able to adventure through the festival for a while to see what each stage looked like. I ended up choosing The Wreckage stage for my first heavy bass set of the day, Terravita. He was the first artist that really set things off for Diso and literally had the crowd rioting for every bit of 60 minutes.

After going hard for Terravita, our group decided to adventure throughout the festival again. Main Stage was the most visually impressive and Digital Oasis was pretty much jammin’ every time I walked by.

Hanging out on the hill for RL Grime was insane and one of the highlights of my weekend. The way Main Stage set things up was super trippy at night with the gyrating lights and massive LEDs.

After catching a few of my favorite tracks from RL Grime, I headed back over to The Wreckage for a Datsik set that could really only be described as epic.

Going into Paradiso I knew I was going to spend very little time away from the bass stage. I’m not a huge fan of the artists who played at the Digital Oasis and ended up having a blast watching a majority of the artists who played at The Wreckage.

One of the best parts about this stage was the audio quality. For whatever reason, the bass sounded best on this stage which was surprising because it seemed as if the PK speakers almost couldn’t handle some of the deepest and heaviest drops during both of the b2b sets this weekend.

At this point in the night I was ready to turn up and went especially ham for Cookie Monsta b2b Funtcase before catching Bassnectar’s headlining set at Main Stage.

Although I only watched one artist outside of The Wreckage or Main Stage for all of Paradiso, ending the night with Bassnectar for day 1 was pretty much perfect.

Hearing him drop “Level Up’ was very inspiring since the vocals on that track are from the homie Macntaj who I recently interviewed. I can’t even begin to imagine hearing my own music being played in front of 25,000 people.

Overall, day 1 was amazing. Words can’t really describe the feelings I get when I’m out at the Gorge and this year really takes the cake.

Media access gave our company the ability to be all over the festival and our group was actively filming or taking pictures pretty much everywhere.Paradiso 2016 Main Stage | Photos: 1Take Studios
