3 Reasons SKiSM's NSD Vol 5 Mix Is Better Than Excision Lost Lands Mix

3 Reasons Why SKiSM’s NSD Vol. 5 Mix Is Better Than Excision’s Lost Land Mix

While everyone has been raving about Excision’s Lost Lands Mix, I’ve been over here banging my head to SKiSM’s NSD Vol. 5 mix. As one of the inventors of the double drop, SKiSM’s mixes are always so beautifully mixed that it’s almost impossible to overplay them.

In a dubstep world of overplayed songs, SKiSM does a good job of incorporating sounds you haven’t heard. Excision has great music but after you hear a song at the beginning of the year, by the end of the year it’s so overplayed they don’t sound original anymore.

SKiSM will always win extra points for originality and finding those tracks you never knew you needed to hear. His intro is unique, short and feeds perfectly into the first track of the mix. This mix is music to your ears.

3 Reasons Why SKiSM’s NSD Vol. 5 Mix Is Better Than The 2017 Excision Lost Land Mix

  1. Excision’s intro is over done at this point. This mash of his greatest hits was really cool back in 2012. The fact that it’s been five years and he is still using this as an intro is disappointing. You can’t just add a new song to the mash and expect it to have a new effect.

3 Reasons SKiSM's NSD Vol 5 Mix Is Better Than Excision Lost Lands Mix2. Excision rarely plays a full song through and you generally miss the second drop of every song. Hopefully those of you who are as obsessed with the Headbang Gang by Trampa and Trollphace are just as upset about this as me. This track is also in SKiSM’s mix and thankfully played out in full. Packing a bunch of songs into a mix is not always as effective when you have to cut out key parts.

3. SKiSM uses more songs you haven’t heard of. Excision has 1 song that isn’t ID’ed whereas SKiSM has 20. The music scene is all about finding the next banger or artist so it should be no surprise this is a big deal, especially with releasing a mix so late in the year. You have to be careful that you don’t play a bunch of music that everyone has already heard you play on tour.
