Who are you most excited to see at FreakNight 2014?

USC Events gives our region the ONLY electronic events worth going to and has never once let me down with their selection of performers. This year’s FreakNight 2014 lineup was released not even 24 hours ago and has already stirred up tons of criticism. It seems as if people are worried that USC’s artist selection might screw up their Halloween weekend (as if that were even a possibility). I’m all for a good debate or argument but to me, it seems that some people simply cannot be pleased.

Browsing through the FreakNight Facebook event page I come across too many negative or rude people that choose to hate just because it’s not all about them. News flash people…The world doesn’t revolve around you or your favorite DJ! Chill out and give the USC team a break. They bust a$$ all year round to make sure that every single event you go to is 150% the best time of your life. #Respect will get you much further than whining on a Facebook post or Tweeting angry things to @USCevents.

Now to be fair, I’m not as diehard into EDM as some or most of the haters are. I’m on10646712_796477913727003_1646587563615370579_ne of those “new” ravers that the OGs in the scene claim to hate because I’m ruining it with all of my “bros and slutty/naked girl friends.” I choose to look past that stereotype however because I am actively involved in helping to change what is wrong with OUR scene and culture. #PLUR is said to be dead and I half-heartedly agree because quite frankly I don’t see much of the older generation living that lifestyle or being a positive force these days. I feel that being positive and thankful for these events should be the real focus because we are truly blessed to have people who care about us in the form of USC Events. The countless hours and days that go into throwing a festival such as FreakNight would make most people go insane yet the USC Events team thrives in these situations. They make sure to account for thousands of people’s safety at every turn by providing FREE WATER, emergency personnel, safety information, top notch host-venues, and of course the best performers. The staff I have come in contact with over the last two years haven’t become my best friends, they aren’t my boss or supervisor, they’re not policing what we do, and they sure as heck aren’t ignoring the feedback from their customers. They are simply fellow ravers who bust their butts year round and who want the same things everybody else wants, a safe good time.

I have listed the performing artists in alphabetical order down below so that everyone can see the extensive lineup. If I had to pick one or two artists who I for sure won’t be missing I would go with Yellow Claw and DVBBS because all of my friends stay slappin trap music and I have already seen many of the other artists.

Who are you most excited to see? (btw there isn’t a right/wrong answer)

P.S: Myself, Dustin Adams, Delilah Blacketer, and Jake Scott will once again be representing Respect My Region as volunteer water station staff and we can’t wait! #FamilyOverEverything is what we are all about and this is a great opportunity for us to help keep the scene safe. Please take the time over this next month to begin preparing your body for two days of hardcore raging. Hydration is key and USC Events doesn’t put together an amazing volunteer staff for nothing! Utilize the free water stations and the roaming conscious crew people for anything and everything you could need. We  are all a part of this community and even the haters, whiners, promoters, volunteers, and/or randoms can help to keep things positive.
