GreenRush Strain Exclusivity Puts Them In High Demand

Not all cannabis cultivators are created equal. Some just buy seeds, sprout them, grow them, crop out and repeat. There’s nothing wrong with this. There’s a science that must be mastered to consistently crop top shelf flower. GreenRush’s owner Mark Flanders and Lead Grower Blake Brush have teamed up to provide Washington with premium cannabis.

GreenRush was started back in 2014 after Flanders discovered a passion for cannabis cultivation late in life. After a 29 year career at Boeing, Flanders took an early retirement to keep up with GreenRush’s sudden business boom.

“The brand name has been getting some recognition. We’ve got a strong following in Snohomish County, especially the north end,” Flanders stated.

Brush formerly ran RedEyed Genetics, where he learned to perfect his craft. He created several of GreenRush’s strains from scratch. Brush’s passion for genetics had a fishy beginning.

“This is gonna sound crazy, but I started breeding guppies as a kid,” Brush said with a laugh. Guppy breeding sounds like an auspicious route to become a top-notch cannabis breeder, but the similarities are striking.

Gregor Johann Mendel is known as the “father of modern genetics.” Through breeding pea pods he discovered how specific traits like height and color, for example, are passed from the parents to the offspring through heredity. Some traits are dominant and are more likely to show up in offspring. Recessive traits aren’t passed on as easily. This science lays the groundwork for genetic research and plays an important roll in cannabis cultivation. Knowing which traits are dominant or recessive is key in creating terpene profiles that stand out.

“It was really easy to translate my knowledge of fish into my passion for cannabis,” Brush said.

Brush started breeding back when they were a secluded group of people meeting and exchanging information through backwater channels like early internet forums and unofficial meet and greets. He brushed shoulders with influential growers like the  Josey Whales, who created Gorilla Glue #4, a staple strain on recreational shop shelves, and a staple genetic line in several of Brush’s creations.

Brush has been with GreenRush for over a year, deciding an opportunity to grow in the legal market was too great to pass up. He left his company RedEyed Genetic in the capable hands of his family to pursue new opportunities in Washington. Flanders’ first seeds were purchased from Brush at RedEyed Genetics.

“It was a no brainer for me, I just had my first kid. I was able to step out into the light and show my face not be scared of getting caught,” Brush said.

Flanders purchased his first seeds for GreenRush from Brush at RedEyed Genetics. After he found out Brush was in the job market, Flanders signed him on. Brush made his talents known quickly and Flanders recognized his passion for cannabis and growing. It didn’t take long for their partnership to flower. Brush as a refined pallet when it comes to cannabis, and this is key for deciding which strains smoke the best.

“When I smoke weed, I really can’t taste it, so I use him as my tastebuds,” Flanders explained.

Brush and Flanders’ goal with GreenRush’s strains is to match the effect and smell with the bag appeal. The Washington recreational market doesn’t allow customers to smell products in the store so customers have fewer factors to base their purchasing decision off of.

GreenRush is in the process of expanding their operation: They have added a full-time sales person to the team, whose sole job is to push GreenRush products. They have added a second Tier 1 grow operation that Flander’s son is running. And with the purchase of Green Networks, GreenRush will now have their own extraction lab.

“That was the last piece of the puzzle that we needed to diversify our offerings in the marketplace,” Flanders continued, “We can concentrate on our own extraction methods and bring shatter, sugar waxes, terp sauces, live resin, and distillates to the consumer.”

GreenRush wants to compete with the “big guys” by bringing their same quality at a price point that isn’t driven up by brand commodity.

GreenRush is a brand you can trust to deliver time and time again. Flanders, Brush and the rest of their team dedicated to providing products with consistent top shelf quality at a fair price. Be on the lookout for GreenRush’s strains at your local recreational shop. Make sure to get your hands on their exclusive flower strains and concentrates. GreenRush’s strains offer unique terpene profiles and effects you simply will not find anywhere else in the world.
