Have You Seen Kevin Gates New Video From His New Project?

Kevin Gates Drops New EP “Chained To The City” + New Visual

After getting out of jail back in January, Kevin Gates has finally given us new music in the form of a three-track EP titled Chained To The City. Throughout the rather short EP, the subject matter is focused around Gates discussing his time in prison in addition to documenting his thoughts on friendships, his past, and his city.

Out of the three tracks included on Chained To The City, the stand out track so far from the project, is “Change Lanes,” which documents his thoughts on being wrongfully sentenced, while at the same time showing off his clever lyricism and storytelling abilities.

With lines such as “I ain’t never been a gang member, Illinois labeled me a gang chief” and “Throwin’ shit and piss on all the staff members/Even got the warden, that’s why they had to ship us,” Gates demonstrates his emotional struggles and his bitterness towards his sentencing, letting his music be his platform for discussing his state of mind.

While Kevin Gates has been away from the game for a bit, his emergence with new music proves that he hasn’t missed a step, his lyrical precision mixed with his hard-hitting delivery are on point. “Chained To The City” offers a raw and honest listen – with the addition of unpleasant lyrics that perfectly convey his feelings for the things he has been through.
