L.Hammond (L Dot) – Exclusive Interview

1. First Off L Dot, what is Faded and Famous? What is it all about, who’s in, and what is your direction with the theme?
Well the word Faded can be interpreted as altered or on another level, and you can be Faded off of money, love, success, whatever, but to be Faded as I said is really to be different than the average person. And with the word Famous, I think we all know what that means so really Faded & Famous is a mind state or a style, meaning you’re on a different level than anybody else is on and everyone knows it. So as of now you got Amir aka Mr. Faded & Famous, J Vaughan Photography, PjontheTrack, Chantel and of course L.Hammond, we want to be known for always delivering a quality product whether it’s with photos, music, videos whatever we just always want to be on a level that nobody else is on and stop this degradation of the art of hip-hop/rap.

2. Where are you from, and even deeper than that what is L.Hammond a product of?
Im from the Seattle/Tacoma area but I was born in St. Louis , MO my mother was in the military so when I was like 5 we started moving all over. I was in San Antonio for a couples yrs, Connecticut, GA and of course Seattle so I would say I’m a product of this whole country east coast west coast Midwest down south all of it, my environment, and generation I move with the times.

3. Now I know this a complex question and there’s so many factors but…favorite artists?
LL Cool J, Jay-Z, B.I.G, Jadakiss, Dr. Dre, L.Hammond…lol.. you knew that was coming, but I pretty much like all of Hip-hop especially if it’s put together nice the beat slaps and the flow is good.

4. What is your goal with this newest project, where do you hope it takes you, and what was the mindset into developing the project?
The mind state I had with making this project was pretty much take my time and don’t half step it, if it was a deep track I really dug deep like with “Stretch Armstrong” but if it was a club banger then I just went ham like “Let’s Get It”, but shout out to PJ on the track he’s a Seattle based producer, and to me his tracks brought a whole new element to the project. Our goal with this project is to increase our fan base, and let the world feel the real. I have no expectations were just going to continue sticking to the plan and continue to work. We can reflect on how we did later and learn from that.

5. The next moves that L.Hammond and F&F are up to?
Putting on tons more of great shows, giving these Faded & Famous junkies a fix of more music and videos, and steady working. There’s really no room to be comfortable or chill right now so I figure why not go hard while I’m still young.

6. Most of your production is done by PJ, how you link with him and is he in house? What else has he been up to?
Yeah PJ on the track did 9 out of 14 of the tracks on my Faded & Famous Entertainment project, we met when we was both working at the airport, he heard I did music and was fucking with it and the feeling was mutual with his production so we just been rocking ever since. PJ has been working non-stop to perfect his craft he’s been taking lessons for different instruments just to get better and doing what he does best.

7. What artists from the Northwest you feel are really putting in that work and have a shot at indie success outside of our region?
I’m riding with the home team no matter what so I feel like almost anybody can do it if they really want to, but I don’t want to drop no names because I know I’m a forget somebody so to answer your question I’m going to say other then myself, I’d say Chantel can do it big outside this region if she wants to.

8. Where do you see L.Hammond fitting into the Northwest scene and your thoughts on the scene as a whole?
L.Hammond fits in the northwest scene because I have a sophisticated style and Seattle is known for being sophisticated, but I’m also a super cool well rounded person, I’m not a dumb brotha and I think people can notice that and relate. The NW scene is good and horrible to me, its good because everyone who does music goes hard for there’s and support other local artist that they like but the problem is too many chiefs not enough Indians…lol… Us rappers need to be fans as well as rappers because if we don’t care for the culture then who will but it’s getting better and I’m seeing a lot more progeress.
