Seattle’s Life As Cinema Releases ‘The Silver Screen’ EP

Life As Cinema has been making noise in Seattle’s music scene for the last few years. Only three weeks into the new year, they’ve already released a new EP called ‘The Silver Screen’ that I would describe as sophisticated new era progressive rock.

When they asked me to listen to their new project, I couldn’t have been more excited. I’ve been doing so much hip hop writing lately, it was a nice to come back to my original stomping grounds. I’ve always been a sucker for Seattle’s progressive rock scene and 2016 was a big year for Life As Cinema.

This 5 piece band incorporates aspects of progressive, alternative, and indie rock while still holding onto that Northwest vibe. Grabbing the attention of old and new listeners with their shredding guitar tones, huge drums and that raw energy you can feel through the speakers, I believe 2017 is looking even brighter for these guys.

Immediately as I was listening I could hear all sorts of influences that brought me back to a nostalgic state. Some guy in traffic next to me looked at me like I was crazy as I was doing the most epic drum cover of ‘ Blood Sweat and Beers’ on my steering wheel. The transitions and rhythms of their songs reminded me of old ‘Gatsby’s American Dream.’

The drums are powerful and full just like that of Thrice. The guitar solos will melt your face off and reminded me of ‘Finch.’ The passionate vocals sang by Tyler Haggett will remind you of old ‘Coheed and Cambria‘ and from a listeners perspective, this makes it pretty AWESOME.  My favorite song off their Ep is ‘Left Hand/ Right Hand.’
