Normally, we don’t see much trance in the lineup for USC’s annual summer weekender, but this year is a beautiful exception. Paradiso 2018 trance artists will let you sample the entire spectrum, from 128 Anjunabeats grooves to classic cuts from long ago. Here are my top three trance artists you simply cannot miss this weekend!
Top 3 Paradiso 2018 Trance Artists
3) Gabriel & Dresden
No strangers to The Gorge, Gabriel & Dresden return to Paradiso 2018 with an entirely new album since their last performance here in 2014.
Personally, that set was a fantastic way to end my first Paradiso weekend. And this year, they’re set to do just the same. Playing Saturday night from 11:30-12:30 you can catch a wonderful 128bpm groove at the Digital Oasis.
We covered their last Seattle show in October which was marvelous, to say the least. It’ll be great to experience this vibe at The Gorge.
2) Paul van Dyk
Considered one of the godfathers of trance, and one of the original superstar DJs, Paul van Dyk is a name that has been adored for decades all across the world. We are truly lucky to be able to host an absolute legend!
Although he personally refers to his work as electronic music today instead of trance specifically, his sound is unmistakable. 138bpm arias and banging tech beats will be heard on the main stage from 8:05 to 9:05 on Saturday, making for an unforgettable sunset.
Find a nice, comfy spot on the hill to feast your feels!
1) Virtual Self
Porter Robinson has sampled almost every subgenre under the sun, but nothing comes close to his new project, Virtual Self. Porter throws in classic cuts from old school 90s and 2000s era rave parties, which makes this a performance I’ve been dying to see.
Not only will he play trance, but plenty of techno, hardcore, and house. I had my jaw dropped to the floor and goosebumps all over while watching his entire EDC set on YouTube.
On the mainstage from 11pm-12am Saturday, unleash your inner rave kid with us on the hill. I’m sure a lot of Porter fans didn’t even vibe with trance until this project.
Of course, these are only three names I encourage you to see. The rest of the lineup is full of gems and incredible talent. This very well might be the best festival mix and variety we’ve seen from USC in a long time. Paradiso 2018 trance vibes are shaping up to be my favorite in years.
Please, stay hydrated and cool this weekend, and enjoy responsibly!
