Q:  Can you share some info on who you are and what your relationship with cannabis is?

A: My name is Elliot Settle, I’m a cannabis enthusiast and local DJ from Seattle, WA. My love for cannabis goes back to when I was in high school, and some close family friends introduced me to the production side of things. Once I saw the vast possibilities with this amazing plant, I knew I wanted to learn more about the massive world of cannabis.

Q: What inspired you to get into the cannabis industry? Were there any particular moments where you realized this was what you really wanted to get into?

A: I first got into the industry two years ago, right before the full switch to recreational happened. When I first got involved, my heart was set on working on the medical side of things, but unfortunately, the state had other plans so I embraced the rapidly growing recreational world. Since getting involved, I really feel like I’ve already learned many new things about the industry and it’s exciting to grow with it.

Q: Are you team sativa, indica, or hybrid? Or do you prefer eating, drinking, and other non-traditional forms of using cannabis over smoking?

A: Most days you ask me, I’ll tell you that I’m team indica all day, but I will always enjoy my morning sativa blends to start the day out proper. I’m always down for some good homemade edibles, but we all know those tend to be a little too strong for daily consumption so I try to keep those for special occasions.

Q: Can you really break down and describe that perfect cannabis experience for you? Is there a brand out there that is providing that consistently?

A: I always love talking to people that are genuine and don’t try and rush things. As a long time customer service specialist, patience as a budtender is crucial. Many people that visit shops are still very new to the process, and the last thing they need is to be pushed towards the door. Always take time to dig deep, and really find out what people need.

Q: What cannabis companies do you feel are the best overall? 1-2 each for flower, extracts, edibles/drinks.

A: I’d have to say, one company that is always consistent and nice to work with are our friends at Cascadia Gardens. Time and time again, they’re always very responsive and hands-on with the stores that carry them. They continually stop in to check on product and reviews, taking pictures, and keeping people excited about their product. Great people!

  • Flower – Cascadia Gardens, House Of Cultivar, Lifted Cannabis, Falcanna
  • Concentrate – Millenium Extracts, Gaga, Bodhi High, Lifted
  • Edibles – Gaga, Cloud Bites, Ethos, 4:20 Mini

Q: What have been some of your favorite moments since becoming part of the cannabis industry?

A: Being an active part of the Seattle nightlife, one of my favorite things is how intertwined the music scene is with the recreational weed world. I continually meet people either at the shops or at the clubs that share similar passions, and I think that’s a huge part of the success of the industry, at least among the younger generation.

Q:  Are there any misconceptions about cannabis that you would like to see changed or communicated differently?

A: So many to count, but mainly the way it’s viewed among a lot of employers. There are so many people that rely on cannabis for an alternative to addictive opiates and prescribed pills, which have time and time again shown much more negative impact on the body than cannabis.  No one should ever be denied or lose their job because they’re searching for a healthier, non-addictive alternative medication. I pray that one day the people that run this country will look past their greedy pockets that are filled daily by big pharma, and realize that people across the country could be receiving the amazing benefits of Marijuana like many people have here in WA or in other legal states.
