Recently, Respect My Region got the chance to interview one of the greatest electronic music producers to ever come from across the pond. Hydraulix hung out with RMR while he was on tour in the Pacific Northwest, blessing our team with another sick interview. Read the fully transcribed interview below!
Hydraulix Interview – Respect My Region
RMR: Just recently you’ve worked with Macntaj and Riff Raff for “Al Capone Em” and “Fourth Kind”. Any rappers you’re planning on working with in the future?
H: I’ve always loved working with rappers and vocalists. There is definitely alot of people I would love to work with. But at the moment it’s mainly my bro Macntaj.

RMR: Who’s on your dream team for artists on a collaborative EP of yours, and why?
H: So many amazing artists out there at the moment. I’d have to say working on something with someone like Boombox Cartel, NGHTMRE or Herobust would defs be the dream collabs. I love both of their styles and feel we would meld together very well.
RMR: What are some rookie mistakes that you see people make when trying to pursue a career as a DJ or Producer? are there some good ways to avoid them?
H: Attitude. Always try and remain positive and polite.. You can have all the talent in the world but if your not a genuine nice person the talent can get shadowed by a bad attitude.
RMR: How do you feel about music industry where it is right now? Where do you see it going?
H: It’s funny in trap EDM in particular i feel everyone kinda knows one another and is like a big family.. I feel the scene is stronger than ever and as long as there are good artists writing amazing music the scene will continue to flourish.
RMR: Who have you run into and/or talked to that you never expected to because of your musical career
H: I’m actually baffled daily by some of the people I now not only get to talk to but also consider some of my good friends. But if your talking like a lil star struck moment it’s probs be Chandler Riggs from the Walking Dead. He’s the biggest legend and was surprised to find out he was a fan.
RMR: What do you like to do outside of music that you think contributes to your creativity?
H: Im constantly surrounded by such talented and creative people. I find that’s what fuels me the most. But I’m also a pretty avid gamer. Gotta have that downtime.. To much work can actually be your worst enemy.
RMR: Any artists on Twonk right now that you really enjoy?
H: The whole Twonk squad is like fam.. There honestly isn’t one tune on the label that I haven’t enjoyed. Krischvn and I have a few tunes together ATM that we waiting to drop.. He’s an amazing young talent from Germany.. And was mega excited when I introduced him to the Twonk squad!
RMR: How do you balance your music with your other obligations?
H: Well I’m very fortunate for this to be my full time work. So apart from being on the road which can sometimes hinder the creative process. I’ve very lucky to be in a position I get to write music all day everyday!
RMR: Any new releases you’d like to talk about?
H: So many new releases ATM.. i just had a new remix drop for my homie Quix and I’ve got a single dropping very soon with Bare Noize on Circus Records aswell as a collab with Oski not long after that on Disciple. But I’ve also got a whole string of singles that I’m ready to drop and also pretty much done with my next EP which I’m mega excited about!
RMR: Anything else you want to say?
H: Pretty much only advice I can give is grind grind grind and be pleasent & grateful for the opportunities that come your way. I’ve met a few people that have all the talent in the world but don’t succeed as much as they should because of a shitty attitude.
