Seattle World Tour Artist Profile: Bad News Botanists

What do you enjoy doing on your normal Seattle nightlife escapades? A night at the club? A walk along dim lit streets, crawling from bar to bar? How about a little jazz-funk fusion from the Bad News Botanists to stir things up?

With the launch of their first album Venomous Nightshade in 2017, the Bad News Botanists are making a name for themselves as a quality group of Seattle artists. Their music is just what we need to keep the Seattle nightlife fresh and alive. Check out a video below of Bad News Botanists jamming out at The Friend Zone.

Bad News Botanists:

Marina Christopher: Bass

Heather Thomas: Drums

Frank Vitolo: Saxophone

Colin Pulkrabeck: Trombone

Andy Short: Guitar

Rob Homan: Keyboards

This group formed the way bands were meant to be made. Scattered freestyle jam sessions and spur of the moment riffs created a modern take on older styles. The Bad News Botanists draw inspiration from artists like Maceo Parker, McTuff, Robert Glasper, Lettuce, and Trio Subtronic. This diverse group can be heard playing a wide variety of music, from classic funk, soul music, to more modern sounds, such as grunge, rock, and hip-hop.

Get ready to smell the roses – or in this case, nightshade. Bad News Botanists will be performing on the first night of The Seattle World Tour at Tim’s Tavern, on January 9th.
