Sunday Slaps 008: What So Not – Stuck In Orbit, White Cliffs – On Call

This first song by What So Not instantly got me hooked. The lyrics, sung by BUOY, open with a calm emotional edge and build in intensity as the song goes on. She definitely succeeded in elevating this piece with her excellent vocal skills.

The way that the melody builds and breaks gives lots of opportunity for What So Not to add in small pops and eclectic notes that give the song feeling. you notice this especially at the end of the track.

The unorthodox ending was my favorite part. The song hits a sudden break and then starts to build in another direction, leaving everything before it in an echo.

If you like What So Not, you will definitely love this one. This might be one of his best works. Check it out below and let me know what you think.

I found this track on Foreign Family Collective while digging around on SoundCloud the other day. If you’ve never heard Foreign Family Collective, they’re a music outlet for musicians and visual artists and the same duo behind Odesza.

This track is funky and smooth, and just the thing you’ll need for a slappin’ Sunday. The lyrics tell a story and fill the song with meaning, while the rhythm and minimal beat of the song create a satisfying and warm vibe. It’s definitely a nice Sunday pick me up.
