THC Not The Only Thing That Matters When Purchasing Marijuana

Yup, you read it right, we have been misinformed our entire smoking “careers”. THC is not the only thing that matters when purchasing marijuana.

As the industry becomes more educated, we are finding that terpene flavors and smells are the reasons why people love their favorite strains. Terpenes, CBD, CBN, and CBG are all components of the cannabis plant that help influence our high. THC is the same on all phenotypes and what separates a Sativa, an Indica and a hybrid are their aromatic profiles.

What is a terpene you ask? Terpenes are the essential oils that give the plant is aromatic smell as well as its wide flavor profile. These are found in everyday plants such as lavender, pine trees,  and rosemary.

As technology advances, we are able to extract the terpene compounds using a process called fractional distillation, which basically separates compounds at their boiling point.

Terpenes alone don’t necessarily get you ‘high’ but combined with THC, and your body chemistry, they’re what give you a unique experience from session to session. The next time you’re looking to purchase marijuana, ask for something with higher terps.
