I am a very firm believer in dragging Christmas out longer than socially acceptable. I’m typing this by the Christmas tree, drinking peppermint cocoa. February will probably roll around in Portland and I’ll still be wearing my Santa Clause knee-high stockings, (shout out to Grandma Sturdev for those)! All that to say, if you haven’t copped Trox’s EP “Ugly Sweaters” yet, it’s not too late!
With intricate verses from Epp, Cassow, Ty Farris, C Plus and Calvin Valentine, this EP hits hard. “UGLY SWEATERS” screams spiked eggnog and pushing old ladies out of the way to get to that last holiday tin with the three flavors of popcorn… Am I the only person in America under the age of 64 who enjoys those? Trox is one of the hardest working producers I know. He is constantly striving to create something bigger and better and that becomes obvious when you see what he’s made.
Just to name a few personal favorites from the album, “Eggnog x Whiskey” is sweet and edgy, like the drink itself. “Carbine Action” dropped early, on December 21st, with some of the best artwork I’ve ever seen. A Christmas Story meets hip hop, featuring Ty Farris. Two of the best in the game, (Epp and Trox), teamed up to tell the story of a Northwest holiday in “Christmas Lights”.
