“My paintings explore the interaction between the female form and the layers of a sticky substance, which I like to call “webs.” This substance sometimes resembles globs of frosting and appears on the model’s face or on her body to provide a playful description of a sexually desirable woman. The webs also reference a saliva-like consistency, which demonstrates my perception of sex as an indulgent and savory experience, while functioning as an expression of my ideas concerning body image and self confidence. Such representation of the female body confronts the viewer with domineering seduction and serves as a metaphor for femininity, obsession, and lust.” – Brooke Welsh Art
