WAVES Pop Up Series: Railway | A "Roaring Twenties" Throwback

WAVES Pop Up Series: Railway | A Roaring Twenties Throwback

The title says it all. WAVES Pop Up Series: Railway will be the second in a series of EDM pop up events thrown by WAVES Presents. So what’s special about this event? First of all, it’s orchestrated by a team of talented artists that are attempting to do the impossible, take you back in time with a “roaring 20’s” Great Gatsby-esque themed event.

Don’t worry, this time there isn’t going to be a prohibition. What there will be is a variety of EDM artists, a visual art installation, and fan performances by flow artist Regan Powers.

The event is being held at the Orient Express on November 18th at 9 pm. If you’ve never been there, it’s a train car restaurant, the perfect place to host this event. Oh, and definitely find a costume for this one. I think you will be able to afford one since this event starts at only $7 per ticket at the door.

Pop Up Series: Railway is just another example of how WAVES is taking the Seattle EDM scene in a unique and new direction. Check out the lineup and artist bio below!

Artist Spotlights

Quackson specializes in a variety of bass music subgenres. His sound ranges from weird wobbly mid-tempo to low tempo, low frequency, and distorted bass. He draws inspiration from artists like Rezz, K?D and Zeds Dead. Quackson has a unique taste of eerie yet grimy nightmarish music, and his live sets never fail to pique the interest of the listener.

Luckdragon has an easygoing feel-good vibe to much of his music. However, he also knows how to throw down some heavy dubstep and make a crowd turn up. He has good ability to respond to a crowd with his wide variety of future bass, trap, house, and dubstep.

Frida K is primarily influenced by artists such as Shiba San, Claude VonStroke, and music from the Dirty Bird record label. With her varied style of deep and tech house, she envelops her listeners into a subtly sophisticated house reverie. If you’re in doubt, she will turn you into a deep house fan.

Ladice is an artist I take interest in for his individuality in style and the grace with which he brings together different genres in a melting pot of ambient, grime, bass, and melody. He’s another artist worth checking out if you want something new and a little out of the ordinary.

Haelix is the bass/deep house project of producer and DJ Alex Alvy Clark. He draws inspiration from Taiki Nulight, Kyle Watson, and Billy Kenny. Haelix has been influenced heavily by classical and jazz music from a young age and seeks to blend these influences into his unique style of weird and wonky bass music.

Kumarion has been producing for over five years and his knowledge and ability at mixing together different subgenres of EDM is a big asset. He draws some influence from his middle-eastern roots, with an interesting tribal trap fusion that manages to ripple into his music. His biggest influences are Noisia, Skrillex, Flume, Deadmau5 and Mat Zo.

Mortals is a Producer/DJ duo made up of artists Camren Webb & Brian Cian. These two have worked together on some captivating mixes, capturing and curating a big musical range from melodic, to raw and heavy, as well as experimental. Once you hear these guys play, you will understand why they make the perfect duo.

Meglados has been DJ’ing since 2012. Initially, he focused on genres such as hip-hop and rap. Over the last few years, he’s begun diving deep into the dance music scene. His sets contain a variety of electronic music sub-genres, such as trap, house, chill-step and deep bounce. Meglados uses stark contrast in his music to surprise a crowd and keep them guessing.

Inaudible has a varied style which he pushes through his many different outlets, such as house, trap, bass house and anything in between. Inaudible will entertain you until the end with his awesome fusions and clever drops.
