50 NEXT: Seattle Hip-Hop Worldwide

Today I was looking for some news about Seattle hiphop (which can sometimes be hard to dig up) but I ran across an interesting website that I thought I would share. It’s called 50 NEXT: Seattle Hip-Hop Worldwide and it’s an “Online interactive experience including music from Seattle and Northwest Hip-Hop artists; featuring a short film by Avi Loud and is presented by Big World Breaks, The Town Entertainment & VILIV Inc. with The Seattle Center Cultural Programs and Festál.” Now at first, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the branding looked good, and the description seemed like it’s a positive thing. (See below)

Seattle Center Cultural Programs & Festál had an inspired vision of aligning the Next 50 celebration with a unique project to honor the past, present and future of the Hip-Hop community in the greater Seattle area. This project was developed over a year-long period and involved an incredible amount of talented people including the 50 Next Seattle core team comprised of Steve Sneed, Aaron Walker-Loud, Jazmyn Scott, Avi Loud and Zachary Self. The film score was composed and produced by Big World Breaks.

50 Next: Seattle Hip-Hop World Wide honors the Seattle Center at fifty years by generating and promoting inter-cultural, inter-generational and international connectivity. Built to immortalize the collective works of the powerful Hip-Hop community in the greater Northwest, this project is designed to support and further cultural programs, events and projects at the Seattle Center.

So I thought, why not post it and see what people think about the project. To me it sounds like a great opportunity for us to learn about the “past, present and future of the hip-hop community in the greater Seattle area” and I’m always down for learning some history about the Northwest. So, how can we really help? Well, the main way to help is just spreading the word and sharing this video! The visuals are awesome, and it’s a great way for the Seattle hip-hop demographic to connect with this project! I’m excited to see what this project brings, it has some awesome history to cover, and it should be a fun ride!

As always, you can find them on their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
