Beyonce Graces Seattle with Formation World Tour 2016

I’m going to say something that might be upsetting to some readers: I’m not that into Beyonce. I don’t idolize her. I don’t see her as God’s gift to humanity. I don’t bow down to “Queen Bey,” as the kids say.

But I like her well enough. I respect her artistry and I think her music is catchy as hell. I can sing along to every Destiny’s Child song that’s on any Now! That’s What I Call Music CD. I’m just not obsessed with her, like everyone else seems to be.

Why did I go to her Formation World Tour?

Well…I found cheap nosebleed section tickets, and all my friends were going. And you know what they say—if all your friends jump off a bridge, you should too.

So there I was, in Section 336, calmly waiting for Beyonce to perform, then the intro to “Formation,” her latest hit, started playing—and suddenly I became a different person.

I think I actually turned to my friend and said, “OH MY GOD, I JUST REALIZED BEYONCE IS RIGHT THERE! WE ARE ACTUALLY IN HER PRESENCE!”
Throughout the night, ‘Bey’ performed songs off of her new album and biggest hits throughout her massive career, even going all the way back to her Destiny’s Child days. Throughout the night, as each Bootylicious song dropped, I shouted, “THIS IS MY SONG!” and danced harder than ANY other so-called “fan” in the 336.

I even bought an overpriced $45 T-shirt with the phrase “Slay All Day.”

I can honestly say that Beyonce’s Formation World Tour stop in Seattle was one of the best live performances I have ever seen.

I’m still not obsessed with her though.

But maybe that’s what makes her iconic; she has the power to make us all bow down to Queen Bey…for a night.
