Booman Forever Is One Of Chicago’s Most Exciting Rap Artists You Need To Hear

Chicago is one of the most influential cities in hip-hop. There is a long list of artists from days past to who’s in current rotation that command respect from the windy city. Booman Forever is a name you may not have heard yet but should be thrown into your playlist right now!

We recently took a trip to the Chi to link up with The 1937 Group and scope the cannabis scene. The 1937 Group and KVL International put on a concert featuring a stellar list of locals including the well-known Vic Mensa. While every artist on the bill impressed us, Booman Forever fully captivated our attention. This man’s set was absolutely nuts. The energy was a 12/10 with ladies shaking ass, an entourage vibing with every track, and Booman going crazy. A multitude of soundscapes were touched on during the performance.

On the flight back to Seattle I tapped into Booman Forever’s latest album And Then Boom. What I discovered was an incredibly diverse and seriously entertaining artist. His first record performed at the concert we saw had me thinking Booman was a hyped-up rapper screaming over records, not that this is a bad thing because he was bringing the vibes, but as his set progressed (or you can hear on the album) it was hard to pencil this dude into any single box.

Records like “Crash Site” bring heavy bass and energy yet the versatility goes deep when you stumble into slower and more melodic records like “Woods” and “Everywhere.” Just when you think you may have his sound figured out you stumble upon tracks like “Jazz Talk” and “Chicago” and are blown away by sounds that will satisfy any old head boom bap-loving rap historian.
