Born in New York City, Robb Banks moved to Broward County at the age of six. He is the oldest child of reggae-dance artist Shaggy, and mother Carol Johnson. His music has heavy influences on old-school hip-hop and R&B. On top of this, he implements the newest hit in pop culture, anime. In his work, you hear many of these genres sampled throughout. He’s worked with some of the biggest names to come out of Broward County, many of them from the “Members Only” collective. Lajan Slim is a Haitian-American rapper who has been touching the mic since the early 2000s. It’s known that his influences come from the Cash Money label, especially songs from Lil Wayne. He gets his name from the Creole meaning of “money” which is Lajan, representing life as a hustler. Slim has always strengthened his money and business, earning him that nickname. His debut mixtape “Hood Olympian” is home to one of his most known songs “Haitians”, among many other crazy bangers to bop your head to.

One of four rappers that are part of the F$O collective, F$O Pete gives Broward County a name with his ability to go between different vibes.  If you’re looking for something energetic, he can deliver. If you just broke up with your girl, he’s got something for that, too. His latest release called “Exotic Pop” was released this year and definitely delivers the energy he’s known for.

Another member of the “Fly $hit Only” collective, F$O Dinero has made his name in hip hop after releasing his single “Blue Bills” in 2018. The single brought mass exposure to his melodic and versatile style, which defines their collective as a whole, too. Starting his rap career in his teens, Dinero takes inspiration from the many South Florida rappers before him.

At a young age, Gottii Kidd was part of the street life. As young as the age of 12, he was part of a life of crime. Gottii didn’t finish school and ended up dropping out in 10th grade. After a few years in prison, it inspired Gottii to change his life around and found music through that switch up. A lot of his music is straight from his experiences, from doing time, to losing friends, and growing as the person he is today. He has a tape that is going to drop in June that may be called “Too Turnt”, which he states he’s taking his time, and we’ll see growth in the artistry with this one.

HAB is an up-and-coming rapper from Broward that is continuing to make his mark on Florida. His goal is to achieve the same pedestal that Future has on Atlanta, and Drake with Toronto. His music capitalizes on the melodic bounce that is taking over the new R&B/Hip Hop wave. With drums that hit you in the soul, he has the same vibes that Toosii, Lil Durk, and NBA Youngboy give off in their songs.

K Money is definitely one of the most underrated artists on this list. In his songs, you can hear the passion in his voice that expresses his want for this lifestyle. Music expresses his hardships, and the only thing he has left to keep him going is music. Given this, he also has anthems that make you want to wild out, giving a nice range of vibes that many listeners can relate to.
