Chuckie Campbell just dropped the second single off his upcoming album “Taking Back Tomorrow.” This song is actually a remix of a track he created back in 2013. Now, what is there to say about this remix? To start with, I like it more than his original song. While the 2013 version is alright, I find it a little flat compared to this one.
This remix feels much more complete and bumps a lot harder. The piano tune in the remix is different than the original and complements the lyrics better. The addition of Talib Kweli’s lyrics on the local also improved it, giving it some context and adding to the track’s depth.
While I didn’t care much for the original, I could hear the structure of a good song that hadn’t quite realized its potential. With the production of this remix, I think the song not only gets its message across lyrically but also has a pop to it that makes it more memorable and emotional. It’s fascinating to see this artists improvement over time!
