Toronto Spotlight || Clairmont The Second Shines On “Gheeze”

Toronto based rapper Clairmont The Second is quickly on the rise, and he’s maintaining is forward momentum by dropping the video for his song “Gheeze.” The track can be seen off his recent project titled Lil Mont from The Ave, which was released back in 2017.

For anyone just discovering Clairmont The Second, he makes it clear that he isn’t the average hip-hop artist. To put it simply, he’s a double threat by spitting with a hard hitting delivery and producing bangers behind the board. For “Gheeze”, it showcases both of these roles from start to finish.

The instrumental itself has many different sounds and influences that can be identified with the “Toronto” sound. This is includes dark synths that have a “light” sounding quality. In addition, there are many filtered synth sounds heard as well. One of the most interesting aspects of the instrumental is when the piano is heard in the middle of the track, which provides a refreshing contrast to the soft yet hard hitting sounds of the rest of the song.

He also brings many different looks to the table with his rapping. This can be seen with various melodic and rhythmic inflections displayed in his delivery. As a result, it adds greater depth to his rhymes.
