Indie-Pop Duo Cloudlines Comes Out Swinging With Debut Single

Portland Indie-Pop Duo, Cloudlines Breaks-Out With Debut Single

Cloudlines is an indie-pop duo from Portland, Oregon with a lot of heart. “At Night”, is their debut release after the two met at a mundane desk job over a year ago. The tender duo offers up an electronically-fused, chill anthem about the ups-and-downs of casual relationships from the perspective of those on the short end of the stick.

Entrancing, yet bouncy and poppy, the vocals wash over you like an uneasy night at a house party. Bits of chopping and screwing on the production and vocal parts give it a fun, glitchy sound fit for any big festival. Combined with fat drums and sing-song synth melodies, Cloudlines is set to make something of themselves. These two have the catchy structure down pat in their first release to give firm resolve of good things to come.

Check out the lyric video below!

Lead Vocalist and Songwriter Emily Watson expressed excitement in the content of their debut single because of how relatable she feels it is. In her opinion growing up with unrequited affection can be one of the most dramatic experiences.

What she tried to capture with the tone and lyrics was the perspective of someone working insanely hard to keep things casual, but at the same time being confused because they definitely caught feelings. She hopes “At Night” makes people laugh a little at themselves if they’ve been in a similar situation and come out the other side.

Cloudlines is currently lining up their gigs for this summer in Portland. Best to keep it locked with folks that can make such a big wave out the gate with just one single! Catch these two showing up on some surprisingly big bills in the future, trust.

Smoker’s Choice: This tune goes well with a nice, sit-down and relax type of indica-dominant strain.
