Maine is a state known more for its seafood rather than it’s music. Furthermore, I can’t think of one rapper that has come from the northeast state. Now enter, Corey Ellis.
Corey Ellis hails from Augusta, Maine while residing in Bangor and is becoming one of the state’s standout new artists. In 2016, his single titled “There You Go” reached over half-a-million streams on Spotify which is no small feat for an indie artist. Finally, the artist/producer has just released a 2-pack of new singles. The tracks are titled “Just Know” and “Hurt Nobody.”
Both tracks feature a melodious, auto-tuned chorus courtesy of Corey himself while giving us the perfect summertime vibe. “Just Know” opts for a more R&B friendly sound while the latter leans more toward modern-day hip-hop. Corey wrote and produced both tracks which feature exceptional songwriting. I’m very excited to hear what he’ll give us going forward and I’m sure his home state is rooting for him as well.
