Check Out These Video Games During The Coronavirus Quarantine

Coronavirus has everyone hunkered down in their homes waiting for this to pass. I’m mostly an introvert, but with the chaos going on I’ve realized that I do enjoy socializing when I have a little control over it. If this virus would have happened 15-20 years ago, our available resources to keep us entertained would be wildly different. The incorporation of streaming services and the ability to play video games online with large amounts of people can make this quarantine a little easier.

There are plenty of single and multiplayer options available for video game enthusiasts to pass their time. Whether your a diehard PC gamer, heavily involved in the Xbox vs Playstation feud, or just enjoy a good mobile game; consider checking these video games out while Coronavirus is holding our country hostage. Luckily, they can be purchased digitally from various sources so you don’t even have to leave your home.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Created by the legendary Rockstar Games, the same company that brought us the Grand Theft Auto series. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a history lesson and a perfectly crafted world combined into one. Learn about the wild west or spend your time riding your horse across one of the most beautiful video game worlds created. You can play this game solo or online. Online can be interesting and also extremely fun if you have a few friends with you. This game is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Coronavirus Video Games For Your Entertainment

Grand Theft Auto V

Rockstar Games has two titles on this list, mostly because they create environments and storylines that suck you in. Their worlds are huge and require a good amount of time to fully explore or travel all the way around. Grand Theft Auto V is the current time period version of Red Dead Redemption 2, but all of the titles in the series provide exceptional replay value. You can play GTAV on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Fallout 4

Fallout 76 was not that great. However, Fallout 4 was a fantastic game produced by Bethesda Studios. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, radiation is everywhere and the consequences of that can be seen throughout the game. Bethesda creates an eerie almost end of the world feels to the environment. You cannot play multiplayer with this one, so if you need to really isolate Fallout 4 might be the perfect solution. I also recommend the rest of the games in the series, except Fallout 76. This series is available on PS4, Xbox One, and Windows.

FIFA 20

Any sports game works in this category, but without the Premier League, Champions League, Concacaf Champions League, and MLS, I’m suffering from soccer withdrawals. All major sports are canceled. Whatever sports game you throw down on you can fill that sports void. The Pheonix Suns are going to stream the rest of their games using NB2K20 over Twitch. Follow their Twitter for updates on when the next game is. The EA Sports games are available on Xbox One, PS4, and Windows.

Self Isolate During Coronavirus With These Video Games

Bioshock

This entire collection is currently available for free download on the Playstation store. I cannot recommend it enough. Although I do not think I started in the correct order. This one has dystopian utopia vibes that add to the jump factor. This first-person shooter does not have an open world concept, but the visuals fit so well with the storyline you want to explore everything. Available on PS4, Xbox One, and Steam.

Resident Evil 2

This survival first-person shooter encompasses the end of the world feels all too well. This is a remake of the 1998 version, although if you’ve got an older system lying around I’d play the original. The two main characters are attempting to survive a mysterious outbreak of an unknown virus. This video game mirrors our current Coronavirus situation almost too well (minus the zombies and mutants). Resident Evil 2 is available on PS4, Xbox One, and Steam.

DOOM

A pioneer of first-person shooter savagery, DOOM, releases their newest game Eternal on 3/20. Countless hours of slaying zombies and mutants to metal music and dubstep may give you the fix you yearned for during this corona outbreak. With some of the best graphics and monsters to date, catch me perched up in the dark immersed in hell ordering Wendy’s with a couple of joints. DOOM will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and Steam (PC).

All of these video games offer hours of entertainment during Coronavirus and will keep you occupied while you’re potentially isolated to your house. I know I’ll be dedicating a little time to finish some of the games on this list and sharpen my skills at FIFA. If you have a Super Nintendo, see if anyone in the house can beat the Lion King. Those retro games would be a good challenge for the younger generations.
