Kathy Robson and Dina Smith, founders of Cura, saw a huge consumer need for feminine cannabidiol (CBD) bags on the mass market. This prompted them to use their experience, designing for brands like Calvin Klein and Macy’s, and combined appreciation for CBD to fill that need with highly fashionable bags at an affordable price.

While both designers are involved with CBD, Dina became an advocate of CBD after seeing the difference it made for her 11-year-old with Tourette’s syndrome. Cura’s future plans include company involvement in more charities for animals, releasing more bag designs (like a fanny pack), and producing masculine products. Additionally, Cura is launching a sister store, Up In Smoke New York, that will focus on cannabis oriented products.
“Big designers are afraid to get into the cannabis and CBD market, but it’s time to normalize these products in fashion. As more states allow recreational cannabis, there will be a growing need for fashionable options.”

Dina and Kathy have been close friends in fashion ever since they were designers together under a private label for JCPenney. Together, they have 50+ years of cumulative experience in the fashion industry and a history of designing for huge audiences. Similarly, their experience and travels to Europe and Asia developed their taste-made styles for the design of Cura bags.
