After an exclusive release on the GTA Online The Contract expansion, Dr. Dre’s “Diamond Mind” featuring Nipsey Hussle and Ty Dolla $ign has officially dropped on all major streaming platforms. As part of the GTA Online storyline, players had to track down the new and previously unheard music. This is a pretty engaging and interesting way to promote new music. Fans are excited to finally have “Diamond Mind” and the five other tracks from The Contract officially added to their playlists.
It’s no surprise that fans’ initial reactions were to cling onto the Nipsey featured track. Due to his tragic loss, people really enjoy hearing his voice pop up in new music from time to time; so, this track was bound to be a fan favorite. Ty Dolla $ign does his thing too and ties in a younger generation, even though most people are here for Nipsey and Dre.

“Doc Dre, you know I don’t show up often”
“Diamond Minds” is a true OGs track full of subtle flexes and knowledgeable game from some of hip-hop’s best. A chill snare-riddled beat sets the foundation for one of those “just smoke and listen” tracks. It’s that kind of track that one of your homies shows you and you both sit there in a stoned bliss as you listen to lyrical greatness.
My favorite verse on “Diamond Minds” had to be from Dr. Dre. I love Nipsey (RIP), but there’s just something about Dre; when he’s on point with that deep and punctual tone, he truly becomes Compton’s Beethoven. You also simply have to appreciate how little music he drops nowadays and appreciate what greatness we do get from him while he’s still around.
Other notable tracks from The Contract include “ETA” featuring Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, and Anderson .Paak. Additionally, “Gospel” features Eminem.
