Multimedia artist Discrete, aka Kyle Yip, delivers an eerie video for his track “In My Room.” This techno sound features a single construction surveyor. Watch him as he goes through a soon to be demolished lower level of a building. His task is to map the infrastructures old utilities lines and foundation. All starts out normal, but as the video goes on, he descends deeper into paranoia as his measurements contradict his findings.
The video for “In My Room” has been held in high regard. Meraj Dhir, PhD Art, Architecture and Film Criticism Harvard University, stated.
“This is the type of shit Massive Attack would have been into back in the hey-day of music videos. It has a strong concept behind it. It’s snappy. The director clearly has a very strong understanding of the medium and what he’s trying to do. He understands film rhythm and it displays a true workmanlike understanding of how to match montage to music.”
Discrete is working on his much-anticipated sophomore album. His successful debut album ‘The Midas Touch’ was nominated for the “Best Electronic Album of The Year” at the Canadian Juno awards in 2016.
