Portland rapper, dust, dropped his newest studio album October 1st, 2013. Entitled, “Dust Raps the Blues,” the release offers a fresh new look on both hip hop and blues music.
Producing all but three of the tracks himself, dust opted for a mixture of classic blues samples, studio guitar, and harmonica that makes the music itself complex and appealing. The songs flow together perfectly, providing enough variance to keep it interesting while staying within the bounds of an overarching theme.
Lyrically, this album is an incredible and shameless exploration of depression, love, and the human experience. Dust uses the common theme of “the blues” as the lens through which he describes his life, sharing stories that any listener can find meaning in.
Dust’s unique sound and excellent lyricism make for a truly incredible listening experience. To pick up your copy of “Dust Raps the Blues,” hit the link below.
