EDC Mexico 2023 Proved To Be A Hidden Gem In The EDC Franchise | Recap

EDC Mexico truly is the hidden gem in the EDC franchises. Mexico City is beautiful and full of life, and the people are all incredibly kind. As a foreigner, the city felt warm and welcoming. Especially coming from a big city like New York, Mexico City teaches you to slow down and smell the roses. It’s also quite the opposite of Las Vegas as well, where there’s constant stimulation and large groups of people. Mexico City made the entire trip feel like a vacation and break from everyday life and stress.

EDC Mexico shines and stands out through its details and the overall experience it offers.

All the sponsor art installations are thoughtful as each one offers unique interactions and engages festival attendees beyond the surface level brand message and product. In addition, the entire forest areas are extremely well decorated and look beautiful both during the day and night. As soon as the sun sets, it feels like you’re walking through an enchanted forest. The festival did phenomenal job of integrating the natural landscape into the festival layout.

Another thing worth noting is that it’s clear that the comfort and experience of attendees were taking account by the bean bags, hammocks, and seating areas offered throughout festival grounds. It provided a comfortable spot away from busy foot traffic for people who needed to take a break. Everyone I saw were thoroughly enjoying themselves and making the most of the experience.

The only common complaint that came up upon people I spoke to was regarding the sound bleed between certain stages. However, the EDC Mexico festival ground is enormous. So, I believe with some more planning and alteration, the issue can easily be resolved for next year. I appreciated some of the changes to the stage set up for EDC MX this year. Circuit Grounds felt much wider than the EDC LV set up without the screens on the sides. In addition, the Neon Garden design felt more intentional with a larger variety of lighting options compared to the shipping container set up at Vegas.

All in all, the EDC team in Mexico did a phenomenal job in putting together the three day festival.

All their hard work shows for itself. Festivals like EDC Mexico are so important as they are conducive for the growth of electronic music culturally. I’d highly recommend all Insomniac/EDC fans to go to EDC Mexico at least once. However, you should be mindful of the local culture and customs as to not disrupt it. Even if you know little Spanish, everyone was so accommodating and did their best to meet us in the middle. However, loud and obnoxious Americans are the worst, so do be respectful when visiting.

There are plenty of cultural sites and landmarks to explore on off-days. Popular locations include Teotihuacan, Xochimilco, and more. Of course there are also delicious restaurants and lively artisan markets to visit. My group and I enjoyed Mexico City every moment we were there, and I cannot stop raving about how much I loved it. I’ll definitely be back after brushing up on my Spanish!
