8 Must-See Emerging and Underground DJs at This Year’s EDC Orlando

After a very successful return to Las Vegas just a couple of weeks ago, Electric Daisy Carnival is making its way to the East Coast for EDC Orlando this weekend, November 12-14. The Insomniac-ran festival is known for bringing some of the world’s top electronic DJs to various cities around the globe. Alongside A-listers always comes dozens of the hottest emerging artists and many underground legends.

The industry-leading electronic music festival sweeps through Orlando this weekend for three days of dancing, vibrant neon decorations, carnival rides, friendly ravers, and almost every EDM genre under the sun.

While sets from DJs like Excision, Zedd, Tiësto, and Louis The Child are the most anticipated, there are dozens of smaller artists you need to add to your EDC schedule. Luckily, the stages at EDC Orlando aren’t too far apart, so squeezing these guys in won’t be as difficult as you think. Check out these eight must-see DJs at this year’s EDC Orlando.

Blunts & Blondes

Saturday 7:00PM-8:00PM @ Circuit Grounds

The first time I witnessed a Blunts & Blondes set was at EDC Orlando in 2019. Ever since, I’ve been awaiting the day I get to witness such a moment again. The moment he opened his set with Danny Brown’s “Blunt After Blunt,” I knew this guy was going straight to my list of favorite DJs. What followed was an explosive dubstep mix with sprinkles of hip-hop and trap throughout. His set proved to be unforgettable. Luckily, a fellow attendee uploaded it to SoundCloud, and now I know almost every word, transition, and drop.

If headbanging with a blunt in hand is your style, Blunts & Blondes’ set simply cannot be missed. Check him out at Circuit Grounds on Saturday at 7:00PM.

Lucii

Sunday 4:05PM-5:05PM @ Circuit Grounds

After discovering Lucii on our “Fresh Drops” playlist a few months ago, I instantly became a fan. Not only because it’s dope to see another woman taking over the electronic music scene, but because Lucii genuinely produces absolute busting bass music. Her sound has just enough of an emotional side to really make it contagious.

Even if the name doesn’t sound familiar, her hit single “I Need Your High” will most likely ring a bell. And if you’re anything like me, it’ll go straight to your playlist to be repeated day after day.

See Lucii perform her hard-hitting mix this Sunday at 4:05PM at Circuit Grounds.

AC Slater

Sunday 4:16PM-5:22PM @ Kinetic Field

A deep SoundCloud rabbit hole that started with a Chris Lake set first led me to AC Slater. As a house-head, I was immediately hooked. And, at the time, little did I know that I came across an absolute EDM legend. Dubbed “The King of Heavy Bass House” in America, AC Slater is known for his “Night Bass” sound that has developed from parties into a whole record label and global brand.

AC Slater brings house music to a deeper, darker level with dirty basslines and electric synths that prove incredibly contagious. Though he’s well past emerging, I had to throw him on this list for those that aren’t as invested in the house scene.

Set an alarm for Sunday at 4:16PM and make your way to Kinetic Field for this must-see set.

LP Giobbi

Sunday 5:30PM-6:30PM @ Stereo Bloom

At this point, it’s hardly accurate to call LP Giobbi an emerging artist. The Oregon-born, Los Angeles-based artist/DJ broke into the dance music scene in only 2018, but quickly become one of the fastest-rising EDM artists in the world. Deserved is an understatement when it comes to LP Giobbi’s success. The boundary-warping, electrifying creative earned every drop of it.

Alongside making ground-shaking house music and performing live, she is also a label owner, music director, entrepreneur, badass feminist, and an advocate for gender equality. Additionally, she is the founder of FEMME HOUSE, an educational platform that empowers women through resources that teach them how to create music and navigate the industry.

Pairing perfectly with her uplifting sound, LP Giobbi will be performing her EDC mix at sunset, at the Stereo Bloom stage.

JOYRYDE

Sunday 7:01PM-8:01PM @ Kinetic Field

JOYRYDE has been a favorite artist of mine ever since a friend sent me his 2016 collaboration with Rick Ross called “WINDOWS.” If you like rambunctious music that your grandmother would deem “obnoxious,” look no further than JOYRYDE. If you dig one of his tracks, you’re almost guaranteed to gravitate towards the rest. The English DJ crafts his own unique genre by blending house with garage, trap, and sprinkles of other genres, creating a wildly infectious sound.

Not only is his sound paradise for those with a chaotic preference, but its also an absolute blast for anyone to dance their ass off to as well. Catch JOYRYDE’s set at Kinetic Field on Sunday at 7:01PM for the time of your life.

SVDDEN DEATH

Friday 9:25PM-10:40PM @ Circuit Grounds

In the early 2010s we saw an explosion of EDM that felt like it was almost born from metal. We witnessed metal fans immediately become part of a scene that unexpectedly merged. One artist that captures this synthesis of music is known as SVDDEN DEATH, and you can catch him this weekend at EDC Orlando.

Coming from the Bay Area, SVDDEN DEATH stands at the the frontier of deep, dark, and well textured dubstep. He has a very particular sound in which the well arranged rhythm and grunge bass are layered in a way that they neatly melt into each other. Adjacently, the presence of headbanging distortion is well complemented with liquid and space-like risers and sweeps.

With a creative mind that never sleeps, SVDDEN DEATH is an ever expanding project. From his first EP, Never Say Die: Black Label to Transmutation Sequence, the amount of work that he consistently puts out is both impressive and respectful. His hit track, “Behemoth,” can be found across the country replayed by many high profile DJs.

Jauz

Sunday 9:20PM-10:30PM @ Circuit Grounds

Jauz, a California-based producer and touring DJ, blasts a dynamic beat and bass sound that keeps the party going. Watching him perform “Forever” will give you that boost of energy you need and have you wishing you could be in the moment forever.

Since the release of “Feel The Volume” in 2014, his career has exploded and developed a cult following. Currently, this song has over 24 million plays on Spotify. It is Jauz’s 2nd most successful song after the remixed SHAED song, “Trampoline.” After continued success he founded Bite This, his own record label, in 2017.

Now, Jauz returns to EDC on Sunday at 9:20PM at Circuit Grounds, bringing a futuristic club vibe you won’t want to miss.

Liquid Stranger

Friday 8:15PM-9:25PM @ Circuit Grounds

Martin Stääf, better known as Liquid Stranger, is the Space Bass DJ you need to see this EDC. Liquid Stranger has been releasing music for over a decade. His music is wonderfully composed with a complementing mixture of melodic synths and fluid, distorted bass sounds. The rhythm drives your movement but remains diverse throughout any one track creating a blissful sense of tension and release. If anyone is a master at finding the sweet spot between heavy and mellow, it’s Liquid Stranger.

Having developed a consistent and particular sound, regardless of what genre he’s involved with, you will know that it’s Liquid Stranger’s work even if you’ve only heard a glimpse of his music prior. Two tracks of his that you may have come across at a party or two are his collaboration with Ganja White Knight called “Jungle Juice,” as well as “Spaceboss” with Space Jesus.

Set an alarm for Friday at 8:15PM because if there’s any artist you must absolutely see at EDC, it’s Liquid Stranger.
