Trance, Jungle, and Bass on the Respect My Region EDM Fresh Drops Playlist

Rezz, Deathpact – Chemical Bond

Dubstep/Brostep

Such gnarly, guttural growls as the ones heard in “Chemical Bond” clarify Rezz and Deathpact as two-step specialists. Overall, this is a straightforward Dubstep track, but that makes it a reliable scratcher for your bass drop itch. Throbbing, vocaloid spasms rule the climaxes of “Chemical Bond,” surrounded by ominous samples and synths. It’s an unforgiving main stage destroyer of a track, thus it had to go on our EDM Fresh Drops playlist.

Rezz is the stage name of Canadian DJ Isabelle Rezazadeh, a self-taught producer of dark, club-lurking EDM. Her reputation already runs deep with six years of streaming discography and over two million monthly listeners. Deathpact on the other hand is a slightly newer yet swiftly budding artist. They maintain a more ominous, Sith-like aesthetic, obscuring their face and pumping out badass, technological music. It’s likely we’ll see both of these names again in the future.

Fre4knc, Swift – Interlace

Microfunk/Jungle

This isn’t the first time Fre4knc took an astronomical soundscape to the EDM Fresh Drops playlist. Earlier in the summer, he and YAANO brought “Black Hole” to the table. This song definitely displays similarities to the nebulous, gravity-tugging piece, but differences as well. Swift, for one, drops some killer deadpan bars over “Interlace” that mix excellently with the bassy, steep mix Fre4knc presents.

Swift is no stranger to fresh, top-of-the-pile EDM. Since his years growing up in Rotterdam, he’s appeared on tracks with Noisia, Black Sun Empire, Gridlok, and plenty of others. If you’re a sucker for some good British rap, you’ll definitely want him in your feed. Fre4knc on the other hand hails from Groningen in the Netherlands, and we’ve got mad respect for him as a veteran Junglist and expert producer. Be on the lookout for more of his name, as he will surely have another DnB banger out soon.

Ghastly, Misdom – Vibe

House

A solid club raiser for sure, Ghastly and Misdom bless up with their newest project. “Vibe” is catchy and shows off plenty of attractive details. Misdom takes the mic, while the two DJs both cycle through lighter and brighter synths. This track would do well in a Progressive House or dancing playlist.

Ghastly had his eyes set on the EDM scene since a young age. He picked up and left his family farm in Arizona for LA, and started making some moves. Today, he stands as a modern trendsetter for House, Dubstep, and other electronic music on the West Coast. Misdom is also LA-based, as well as a singer and adaptive music maker. He’s been pulling off some tracks as a member of the Monstercat fam lately, which we love to see too.

Alydian, Stasys – Koalaflex

Glitch Hop

Strange and wonderful, “Koalaflex” is a one-of-a-kind Glitch Hop banger. The term loosely applies to this hip-hop-inspired IDM seizure of a song. The mix truly is a flex, as seemingly tons of sounds layered within excessively subdivided percussion come to a boil at its climaxes. Words cannot describe the prickly, inquisitive sensation this song provides the listener, thus it is better to simply experience it yourself.

Stasys and Alydian already hold some reputation for synthesizing complex EDM. They’ve worked together before on tracks like “Orka” alongside Azaleh, another IDM producer. Stasys specifically appeared on the EDM Fresh Drops playlist before with his transcendent track “Bovel & Buwar.” Alydian, however, is a new name that we welcome with open arms, and hope to see again soon. After all, “Koalaflex” slaps like nothing else, and it’s exactly what we’re shooting for on the Fresh Drops playlist.

Ayesha – Potential Energy

Progressive/Tech Trance

Sometimes you just know for a fact that a DJ has a unique sound; an energy unlike any other person. Brooklyn producer Ayesha is most certainly one such prodigy. “Potential Energy” feels like a look into her world, with sounds that are robust and unapologetic, yet groovy and thumping. The track comes off of her newest EP of the same title, which includes three more tracks that carry the same vibes.

Ayesha is a newer name, only just releasing her first singles in 2020. This game is almost certainly not ready for her, as she takes a brutal, dancing approach to the genre of Trance – which is typically more spacey and lax. If you’re a fan of Infected Mushroom or other trippy Psytrance wizards, this New York specialist is about to be your next focal point.
