Bellingham Gets Rowdy with Ekali – Event Recap

If you’re familiar with Bellingham or the local music scene, you’d know how iconic The Wild Buffalo is. They’ve housed countless local talent and national talent as well. Odesza is merely one of the names that have played at the venue. Ekali, who’s originally from Vancouver, is no stranger to Bellingham and The Wild Buffalo. He had played back in 2016 and finally returned in 2019 for a stop on his small scale fall tour.

With a nearly sold-out show on a Sunday night, Ekali gave the crowd a wild set full of classic EDM tracks, his own songs and IDs. He’s been teasing an album that’s to come soon. As well as collaborations with Illenium, Nitti Gritti, and more, which he had sprinkled into his set. This small leg of the tour is a good opportunity for Ekali to test out the waters and get some feedback on new music. Although it felt more like a DJ set, everyone still had fun and the energy was through the roof.

We can definitely expect Ekali to stop in Seattle for the album tour, and I have a feeling that the stage setup would be similar (if not the same) to what he brought to Bellingham. The light-up pyramids and fake plants this time around are an evolution of the visuals he had for his last tour. Along with all these stage props, Ekali always makes sure to bring fire IDs and a good time to all his shows. You can listen to Ekali’s newest track, “Back to You” featuring Kiiara before more singles are released ahead of the album.
