West Hollywood Is Looking to Become a Cannabis Paradise in Los Angeles

West Hollywood Aims to Become an LA Cannabis Paradise Through Emerald Village Rebranding

West Hollywood is rebranding as the “Emerald Village.” What does this mean? In essence, the city is working to identify as a cannabis mecca for tourists, celebrities, and locals.

At less than two square miles in size, West Hollywood is looking to create a main street-style weed oasis. This transformation may finally earn it the title of “Amsterdam of the far West.”

“Welcome to the Emerald Village, the capital of cannabis culture,” the organization says on its website. “We invite you to explore all the gems West Hollywood has to offer in this golden age of cannabis including culinary, wellness, entertainment, nightlife, art, and personalized experiences.”

Emerald Village is the “official marketing organization for licensed cannabis businesses in West Hollywood.”

West Hollywood Aims to Quadruple Their Number of Dispensaries

As of right now, there are only six cannabis dispensaries in West Hollywood. However, the city officials plan to approve as many as 40 cannabis permits by the end of 2022.

There are presently several member organizations of Emerald Village West Hollywood. These organizations include Alternative Herbal Health Services (AHHS), The Artist Tree, CALMA, LA Patients and Caregivers Group (LAPCG), MedMen, and Zen Healing Collective.

“I really see it as a place that can redefine what the image of cannabis is to the general public. It would be awesome to be able to have a business where you can appreciate art. If yoga is more your thing, you can walk down the street and do that while you consume and everyone is sort of bringing a different idea to the table.”

Historically, West Hollywood has Very Involved in Cannabis Culture

Just a few years ago, Lowell Farms opened “America’s first cannabis restaurant.” This café sold foods infused with cannabis butter and THC.

“From the first cannabis café in the United States to entertainment and art venues enhanced by cannabis, West Hollywood’s Emerald Village is home to the most unique and creative cannabis experiences in the world. The Emerald Village is ready to welcome travelers who will appreciate our imaginative cannabis experiences alongside our iconic LGBT nightlife, entertainment, world-class hotels, award-winning restaurants and strong sense of community.”

Emerald Village is Drawing a Ton of Attention

Furthermore, the development of “Emerald Village” is being backed and driven by celebrities. Jay-Z, Patricia Arquette, Woody Harrelson, and Bill Maher are also looking to get in on the action.

Needless to say, if you want to get blazed in style, the Emerald Village just might be the place to do it.
