Fake Pictures and Muna Team Up To Create A Fiery Club Mix Called “Wire to Wire 2020”

Fake Pictures is a mysterious electronic duo that has only recently started to appear on the public’s radar. In 2017, they released their own mix of “Two Princes,” a hit originally released in 1991 by Spin Doctors. Since then, the secretive DJ’s have worked on different projects, most recently their collab with Muna, “Wire to Wire 2020.”

Muna is a trio, their real names are Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin, and Naomi McPherson. Muna began in LA when the band members met in college. The band carries more of a pop/indie/alternative feel making their link with Fake Pictures even more dynamic.

The two groups joined up to produce a rework of hit song “Wire to Wire” released in 2008 by Razorlight. Though the original is quite the ballad with lead singer, Johnny Borrell, serenading over a soft piano, the rework is much different.

Fake Pictures and Muna’s rendition begins up tempo immediately building into the first drop within 30 seconds. The track uses the same lyrics but takes them to a whole new level creating a bass-heavy club mix. The melody moves between short, softer bridges before plunging once again into an relentless bass line that rattles your chest.

Coming in at only 2:43 minutes long, it’s no wonder the track is quick and dirty. What I love about releases like this is that artists can listen and appreciate an original for what it is, then continue to add their own new, explosive flare.
