After living in Chicago for nearly half a year, I’ve come to realize that Chicago is very fortunate when it comes to live music performances. Nearly every tour is bound to have a stop in Chicago. In addition, there are incredible local festivals as well (Lollapalooza, Spring Awakening, etc). However, what I haven’t seen before is three shows in a row in Chicago, which is exactly what Flume did. There was such high demand that one show tuned into three consecutive shows during Memorial Weekend.
Over the course of Flume’s decade-long successful music career, he has fostered a massive following. On top of that, he garnered nothing but love and respect from other well-known DJs and producers. Flume had recently released his third studio album, titled “Palaces.” The new album displays growth and experimentation while preserving Flume’s unique sound and style. His production shines through and is highlighted through the collaborations with talented vocalists.
The Cocahella stage setup is what Flume is bringing on the road for tour. With a massive projector at the back of the venue, the column structures displayed beautiful colors and complemented the visuals for the show. Throughout the night, it was apparent that Flume cared about the overall experience for all attendees. The setlist was a mix of songs across all his projects and albums, and the energy was kept at a high level constantly. After experiencing the Saturday show, I had wished that I was returning for the Sunday show as well.
If you have a chance to see Flume for the Palaces tour, I highly recommend it! After seeing him, you’re going to wish he’s playing in your city for multiple nights in a row as well.
