Galantis x FreakNight Was Perfection

For me, FreakNight 2016 was the second Halloween festival I have been too. Things didn’t start off as planned and after being scammed by scalpers, my tickets weren’t valid. Luckily USC Events #LocalLegend, Gabe Ossa, was able to come to the rescue and save my entire weekend. THANK YOU GABE!!!

Night one was my favorite night most definitely. I hung out at the Twisted Big Top most of the night and started things off with 3lau playing my favorite songs. He dropped a few bomb remixes that really had my head and neck warming up for Flux Pavilion’s set.

Flux had every bass cannon actively womping the crowd and his set was heavier than normal thanks to the PK sound being used throughout the Tacoma Dome. Even though Flux was incredible, my whole night was spent anticipating the people who mean the world to me, Galantis.

It has been a long 7 months since their tour ended and since I was last with them. Needless to say I was more than ready for the incredibly emotional experience that was about to happen. They’re set had tears coming out of my eyes and I lost my voice for the rest of the night after their set.

Last time I had seen them “No Money” hadn’t come out yet but I got to hear it before it was finished.  I had yet to see it performed live so needless to say I was a little excited when they finally dropped it here in the Northwest. Another song I was ecstatic to hear was “Love On Me”. They just released it less than a month before FN yet everyone in that crowd was belting out the lyrics just as I was. Their oldies, ‘Peanut Butter Jelly’ & ‘Runaway’ were probably the crowds favorites and my favorite moment was being hoisted up on my best friend’s shoulder for ‘Runaway’.

Call me crazy but I’m also 100% sure that Christian & Linus looked down and saw me before their set ended. They were suppose to play back at the 2014 FN but night 2 was canceled and they were super bummed about it. Having kicked it with these guys on tour, I know that both members of Galantis have been waiting a long time to play FreakNight & that they were so happy that they were finally able to do so.

They’re always a bit nervous when playing Seattle because of what our areas music scene is known for (indie, rock, ect.) but they were happy to see that we were all showed up to support them.

After that, the fabulous Martin Garrix (aka my future husband) came on the stage as a wizard to close out the night. He sure did cast a spell over the crowd! His set was truly something else and  “Now That I Found You & In The Name Of Love” were my favorite songs from of his set. For being so young he’s really phenomenal and I can’t wait to see him again.

For night 2 I also had the chance to explore a little more. The night started off with R3hab hanging out around the Trance stage where they had free carnival games.  After playing some FREE skee ball, I went outside to the rides which is probably one of the coolest features included in this festival. A carousal at a Halloween themed event is a must have.

I then headed back inside to the Bass Asylum where Pegboard Nerds melted my freaking face off. They always put on a kickass show. Bass booty & headbanging was seen in every inch of that room. I did have to leave their set early to make it for Armin Van Buuren. His set was the perfect addition for the few remaining hours left of FreakNight and I utilized this time to chill in the stands.

After Armin, I made my way down to the front of the floor for one of my other favorite artists Zedd. He was an excellent choice to close out the night. He played all of his ‘classic’ throwbacks and also threw in some other great songs. He definitely takes gold for best of night 2.

This year’s FreakNight went by way too quickly and was one hell of a great 20th year anniversary.
