Freddy's Fuego Treasure Hunt

Freddy’s Fuego Treasure Hunt At The Old Rainier Brewery Is A Smashing Success

Freddy’s Fuego partnered with The Bakeréé, Clutch, WeedMaps, and Clear Choice Cannabis to create a one-of-a-kind cannabis event. The Freddy’s Fuego Treasure Hunt took place at the historic Old Rainier Brewery. The treasure hunt in question was a cannabis phenotype tasting. Phenotypes of the same cannabis strain produce different flavors and effects. Layer Cake #9 and Layer Cake #15 had completely different textures, aromas, and flavors. Hunting new phenotypes is one of the most tedious and exciting tasks cannabis cultivators embark on while crafting their strain menu. Breeding, stabilizing, testing, and selecting phenotypes for mass production can take over a year.

Walking up the stairs and through the gate revealed tall round tables with large cylindrical jars on them, filled with different strains like  Legendary Larry, Layer Cake, Hell’s Bells, and Spiked Punch. Each table was equipped with lighters, papers, matches, and glass pipes for testing purposes.

Each table featured a single strain with multiple phenotypes. Layer Cake featured eight different phenotypes. All of these phenotypes had noticeably different aromas, textures, and flavors. Layer Cake is a multi-cross between Wedding Cake, GMO (Chemdawg and GSC), Triangle Kush and Skunk. Layer Cake was all over the place, some phenotypes had earthy kush aromas, while another had loud orange terpenes similar to a Tangie strain.

Legendary Larry was the other strain I tried. I’m not sure what the genetics are, but my guess is it’s a Larry OG cross of some kind. There were two different Legendary Larry phenotypes on the table. One was fluffy with a sticky texture and the other was a bit denser and easier to break up. Both had different mixes of kush, wood, and earth aromas.

The cannabis tasting occurred in the outside portion of the venue. The inside portion of the venue featured an entire other event experience with a small stage, dance floor, bar and a dab-bar in the furthest back room. The dab-bar featured a dragon-shaped dab rig by ScozGlass. This piece was truly exquisite; I was amazed they allowed an entire event to use it.

This beautiful piece features a four-legged dragon sitting like a dog in training on three legs and a long tail curving upwards. The fourth leg/claw held a large cluster of purple amethyst crystals. Orange and yellow hues cover its body; giving way to turquoise covering its horns, claws, and the spines down the center of its back, tail and on the tips of its wings. The carb-cap is the end of the dragon’s tail with matching amethyst crystals and turquoise spines protruding forth.

Freddy’s Fuego had pots of honey to scoop dabs from. Two flavors were available, LA Cookies and an in-house mix of several different strains. I took a fingernail-sized glob of Freddy’s Fuego LA Cookies sauce. I was shot into the stratosphere with the face sweats and a mouth filled with saliva after inhaling for 30-seconds straight. LA Cookies had sweet and creamy earthy flavors with hints of mint on every exhale. Words don’t do the flavors justice – they enveloped my taste buds for the entire length of the dab.

The entire event was treated to a show by one of Seattle’s top talent’s, Travis Thompson. Thompson threw down a set of his best hits like “Came True,” “Corner Store,” and “Joyride.” Being stoned to the gills like the rest of us didn’t stop Thompson from bringing the crowd towards the stage and throwing down a live set.
