EARTHGANG, Skrillex, Snakehips and Plenty More | Five New Songs on Our Fresh Drops Playlist

EARTHGANG, Skrillex, and Snakehips Added To The Official Fresh Drops Spotify Playlist

The Respect My Region Fresh Drops playlist is our curated electronic dance music playlist. This week, we’re featuring some big names like Skrillex and EARTHGANG, and some new faces on the playlist like suijin. These singles are the newest additions but I strongly suggest you follow the official ‘Fresh Drops’ playlist at the bottom of this post to see our whole collection. We update our playlist regularly and constantly add brand new tracks, so we always have something new for your collection.

Without further ado, here’s five new tracks on our playlist this week.

Balkan Bump, CloZee – Varshaver (Marvel Years Remix)

[Dubstep]

Don’t let this track fool you, it’s not Timmy Trumpet. Indeed, as it turns out he is not the only person who can put horns in dubstep without a bad reaction. Balkan Bump gives his brass ass a run for his money if anything.

Balkan Bump’s track with CloZee, Varshaver, utilizes brass and other acoustic instruments quite fearlessly.  Amassing over 600k plays on Spotify, this baller trap-like composition is definitely worth giving a listen. You can find this song in the EP with Marvel Years’ remix.

That said, this remix jacks up the energy and cuts to the chase with thick drops. These features are what earned it a position in our Fresh Drops playlist. While the drop on this leans toward to American-style tearout, the overall clever composition kept it closer to conventional dubstep. Varshaver, thanks to Marvel Years, is a good example of a midpoint between dub and it’s edgier younger brother, brostep.

tsujin – FATAMORGANA // TAMASHI NO YUTEN

[Braindance/IDM/Experimental]

We got a weird one for you this week. At least, by our standards. Coming in on a complex meter and a melting pot of genre-tropes, FATAMORGANA // TAMASHI NO YUTEN is a ruthless mix of quirky synths and catchy sliding bass.

This track is on our Fresh Drops playlist however, because of its thought-provoking nature. Some of the best EDM tracks manage to push the limits of their genres while still providing a productive energy to the listener. Be sure to check out the full EP, TNY, for more of tsujin’s peculiar music theory.

LP Giobbi, Kaleena Zanders – Carry Us

[Bangin Techno/Future Dance]

Kaleena Zanders (aka EDM Whoopie Goldberg) absolutely makes this track. One of our favorite things to see in our Fresh Drops playlist is a clean blend of soul, pop and other genres into banging EDM beats. Carry Us by LP Giobbi is a great example of this synergy.

The song opens up with Zanders going right into her performance, and it quickly becomes anthemic. Much within the theme of the title, the lyrics are uplifting with inflections reminiscent of classic American gospel/soul. Zanders and Giobbi have composed a club track that doubles as a liberating theme song and it sounds downright beautiful.

Snakehips, EARTHGANG – Run It Up

[Rap/Techno]

Run It Up scratches your bass and rap itches at the same. At Respect My Region we’re already substantial EARTHGANG fans, though this is the first time Snakehips have featured on our Fresh Drops playlist. The British duo has been pumping out beats since 2014, debuting with their single Days With You. They have definitely spent their time well, holding just under 5.5 million monthly Spotify listeners.

Snakehips specialize in the same sort of clubby beats as you hear in Run It Up, so be sure to check out their Spotify if you want to hear more.

Skrillex, josh pan, Noisia, Dylan Brady – Supersonic (My Existence)

[Dubstep]

Skrillex isn’t always a popular name in the more uppity facets of the EDM scene, though I suspect Supersonic would be enjoyed even by the snobbiest UK Garage fan. This track isn’t brostep, in fact it borders closer to a sort of “refurbished” dub.

The lineup on this track is intriguing as well. Featuring 100 gec’s own Dylan Brady and Noisia make Supersonic a much more unique song than one may anticipate. Singer josh pan puts the finishing touch on this song with a very soft and pretty vocal performance which compliments the thick, distorted bass drop very nicely.
