Game Of Thrones Concert Experience Brings Westeros To Seattle

Game Of Thrones Concert Experience Recap – Winter Comes Early

Westeros invaded Key Arena last Friday for the Game Of Thrones Concert Experience. Ramin Djawadi leads a full orchestra to an arena full of Game Of Thrones (GOT) fans. Music from all seven seasons of HBO and George R.R. Martin’s fantasy epic was played.

Djawadi is an Emmy winning songwriter and composer. He’s behind the soundtrack of some of my favorite movies growing up in Iron Man and Mr. Brooks. Besides GOT, Djawadi writes and composes all of the music for Westworld, an HBO science fiction drama. Djawadi showed he’s more than just a composer during night one of the North American tour, he’s also a talented musician and performer. Besides leading the orchestra, Djawadi wielded a variety of instruments including the keys, electric guitar, and a weird string instrument called a dulcimer. He spoke on details regarding the music and gave context to the visual portions of the show. Djawadi was gracious in his appreciation for the moment and made a terrific host for the evening.

After the opening credit sequence was performed to thunderous applause, a montage of music character themes was performed for Aria Stark, Daenerys Targaryen, John Snow, and the Lannister family. The setlist also featured music from iconic episodes like “The Red Wedding, “Battle Of The Bastards,” and “Winds Of Winter.” Edited montages of the show’s footage, live performers and pyrotechnic effects fed an intense GOT experience to your senses.

Violinists were hoisted high into the air for solo performances, fire shot out of the stage when the dragons made their fiery entrances. White walkers brought down snow-like confetti and strobe lights to send shivers down the audience. The climax of the experience occurred when”Light of the Seven” was performed. This iconic music opens the season six finale when Cersei Lannister destroys the Sept of Baelor with magic “wildfire” that burns with sinister green hues. Devilish green smoke filled the arena as the city bathed in magical green napalm on the video screens above.

Djawadi and his team get creative with the visual portions of the show that make this much more than your ordinary live orchestrated set. Djawadi took the audience on a journey recapping the best memories from the GOT show. The GOT Concert Experience is something any fan will enjoy. An electric atmosphere, surprise twists and turns throughout and pure GOT fanfare made this one of the most enjoyable live shows I’ve attended this year, hands down.
