Gang Starr has returned with a new single titled “Family And Loyalty” featuring J. Cole. The group has taken a sixteen year break of music, but they have broken the silence with the brand new single. They reportedly have a new album on the way as well – which is still untitled at this point.
For their latest single “Family And Loyalty,” they drop straight facts from start to finish. Throughout the song, they drop wisdom from the lessons they have learned in life. Because of this, the song has a very reflective and nostalgic quality.
The instrumental also pairs well with this idea, as a raw piano lead drives the track. The mid-tempo percussion also creates a layer of space within the track, as it the varying percussion lines create room for the vocals. While Gang Starr does their thing throughout, J. Cole rolls through with an immaculate verse as well.
