The 206 Is Lit Off This New Drop From Grieves "Castle Lights" Featuring Tacoma's King Leez

The 206 is Lit Off Grieves’ New Drop “Castle Lights” Featuring Tacoma’s King Leez

Chicago-born lyricist Grieves doesn’t want to be left out of the end-of-year hype as he drops a new vibe titled “Castle Lights” featuring King Leez. Bouncing around the country before settling into Seattle, Grieves has been around the block once or twice and is now an OG in the PNW at this point.

Like most, the last year-and-a-half or so has been a struggle. But, keeping focus on the silver linings, he took the opportunity to dive into a more melodic realm of his music. In June of 2021, he released his project Canopy. The album is 14 tracks of instrumentals, some with minimal lyrics, to sooth the soul, and maybe do some car freestyling to as well.

“Castle Lights” Merges the Best of Both Sounds

“Castle Lights” merges that new Grieves melodic instrumental style with his traditional lyrical flow that fans have come to love. Throwing King Leez on the track is just gravy on the plate as the Tacoma rapper always brings that extra drip to a beat. Always coming with a story to tell, Leez makes sure you hear what he’s saying when he raps.

Not banking on any flashy techniques or clout chasing moves, these two are hip-hop purists. Like a soldier in civilian clothing, you wouldn’t know these two are as deadly with it as they are if you saw them just walking down the street. But, get them in the booth and it’s game over like bombs over Baghdad.

Rapping with a motivational essence, Grieves worked his way up with a relentless hustle; that mentality shines through in “Castle Lights.” Bars like his opening line, “I had to angle my grind to stay sharpened,” don’t just show a witty writing ability. It also displays his adaptability and knowledge in the game. Knowing how to leverage this knowledge is why tracks like “What It Dew” have been such major successes for him.
