Hardwell Clears Touring Schedule Indefinitely, Cites Mental Health

Hardwell shocked his fans this morning with a post on his Instagram announcing that he is clearing his schedule and will no longer be touring, for an undetermined amount of time. In a caption under a black and white photo of himself, he says the following:

Hardwell just posted this on Instagram from r/EDM

The statement says that he will continue to produce and release music for his fans, but it certainly sounds as if Hardwell is slowing his roll. He promises to perform his last show at Ziggo Dome during the Amsterdam Dance Event on October 18th, but beyond that, there’s no telling when he will perform next.

His website, which normally shows an interactive world map of his upcoming tour dates, is ominously dark. Ironically, Hardwell’s track with Wildstylez, “Shine A Light”, plays in the website’s media player as I load the page.

With the immense pressure held over DJs and artists to tour constantly, and the pressures that come with a perfectly composed set, it’s no wonder Hardwell is feeling the stress. He says that the experience of being an artist has “tripled his aging process”, a sentiment no doubt felt by any major touring artist.

We hope that Hardwell is able to connect with his family and friends while he recovers from the stresses of touring. With any luck, Hardwell’s renewed energy after his hiatus may bring even better music than before.
