This Year’s Harvest Cup Will Determine the Best Cannabis Flower in California, Chosen by the People

With the amount of cannabis brands located all throughout California, how do consumers and dispensaries know what to choose? Anyone can say they have the best cannabis, but the real test is when you put it in the hands of the consumers. At this year’s Harvest Cup, a flower-based competition stemming from Farmers Cup, cannaseurs and cannabis companies can come together to do just that.

Farmers Cup is a series of Licensed Cannabis Cup competitions in San Diego, CA. The end goal is to give the customers an opportunity to give their input on a variety of products, and ultimately, determine what the best brands are in the most holistic way possible. Chosen by the people, for the people.

Harvest Cup Brings Cannabis Consumers and Brands Together

This year’s Harvest Cup is virtual and will occur on December 19th at 7:10PM PST. Prior to the award ceremony, the competition begins on November 19th when judges are able to start picking up the kits. This will allow time and space to properly judge the various brands on their merit. In addition, it provides a space for the cannabis community to connect.

“We feel blessed to be in the position to offer this to our SoCal cannabis community,” says Barry Herzberg of Farmers Cup. “It’s a win-win for participating brands, judges, sponsors, and everyone concerned.”

Judging is Open to the Public

Anyone in San Diego County can be a judge (with a few requirements). Judges must be 21 years old or older and need to be able to pick up the judge kits from the assigned dispensary in San Diego. They will have 7-14 days to evaluate the products and cannot be biased. Based on past events, kits can feature nearly 100 different cannabis brands.

Judges are not allowed to vote for their own brand or a brand they are associated with.

“The Farmers Cup is very inexpensive but effective marketing for any brand, and especially if the brand is unknown or cash strapped. For the cost of some samples, they can reach many thousands of prospective end-users and often quite a few social media influencers as well,” adds Herzberg.

There are Six Total Categories, with Two Categories Per Judge Ticket

This year’s Harvest Cup features six total categories, with two per judge ticket. Firstly, category 1 includes indoor flower and infused flower. Next, category 2 includes outdoor flower and light deprivation flower. Lastly, category 3 includes infused pre-rolls and non-infused pre-rolls. Participants are welcome to participate in multiple categories, with a “complete pass,” which includes all three categories, available for a discounted price.

Winners will be announced virtually on Saturday, December 19, 2021, at 7:10PM PDT. For those looking to attend the ceremony, tickets are free. They will be available closer to the event so make sure to follow Farmers Cup to stay updated.

**Update: The entry deadline has been moved to December 1st. Additionally, the award ceremony has been moved from December 18th to the 19th.

Farmers Cup is Centered on Community

In addition to Harvest Fest, Farmers Cup will be hosting a Cannabis & Hemp Career Fair + Business Expo on December 11th. This is a b2b event with the purpose of connecting employers with those looking to get into the industry. Moreover, the event will feature various industry guest speakers.
