Los Angeles is home to a rich music scene. Countless top-notch venues, festivals, and musicians are located in the City of Angels. Particularly, LA is known for its immense hip-hop scene. Many of the greatest rappers have come out of the huge metropolitan area, and many of the world’s next best artists are moving to the West Coast to advance their careers. Further, locals and traveling artists alike perform on a daily basis in Los Angeles. With the pandemic fizzling and the summer heating up, there are tons of hip-hop shows going on this July.

Curren$y | July 9th

Curren$y is a rapper and label head from New Orleans, Louisiana. The Jet Life Recordings founder has been releasing music since the early 2000s and continues to drop new music to this day. On July 9th, Curren$y will be performing with a full band in Garden Grove, California at the Garden Amphitheatre. LA-based rapper, G Perico, will be opening for him.

Releasing music since the 80s, Too $hort is a trailblazer in West Coast rap. He was born in South Central Los Angeles and went on to be a pioneer of the Bay Area rap scene. Too $hort will be performing at Michelada Rumble at Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia, California on July 9th. You can also catch Too $hort performing with Vanilla Ice at Microsoft Theater on July 30th as well as with Ohgeesy and Shoreline Mafia on the same day at Catch One.

DJ Quik | July 16th

DJ Quik is a rapper, songwriter, DJ, and producer from Compton. Releasing music since the late 80s, DJ Quik is a pioneer in the G-funk style of West Coast hip-hop. He will be performing twice in the Los Angeles metropolitan area in July. You can catch him in Pomona at the Fox Theater on July 10th as well as in Garden Grove at the Garden Amphitheater on July 16th with Suga Free.

Machine Gun Kelly | July 13th

Also known as MGK, Machine Gun Kelly is a rapper, singer, and actor from Houston, Texas. He is known for his blend of alternative hip-hop and rock. MGK will be performing on July 13th at Kia Forum in Inglewood. Avril Lavigne and WILLOW will be opening for him as a part of his Mainstream Sellout tour.

BLXST | July 14th

The Chicago rapper will be performing on July 16th at Rockstar Club in LA.
