Hot Music Friday Featuring Saba, Metro Boomin, Sevdaliza and More

Time flies when you’re having a good time and May went by like a warm, summer breeze. As the June gloom sets in, we’re all set to get things started on a high. This month’s inaugural Hot Music Friday features a mix of new music and seasonal jams, so be sure to check it out!

With crispy picks from Saba, Metro Boomin, Kendrick Lamar and many more, here is our first offering for the month of June.

Hot Music Friday – June 2, 2023

“The Hillbillies” – Kendrick Lamar & Baby Keem

So far, Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem haven’t missed on a song together. Sure, we don’t have enough music from the pair to determine their consistency, but most would agree that we’re ready for more. Their newly released single has given us another reason to demand a full-length collaboration, so let’s set the petition up sooner rather than later.

“hue_man nature” – Saba & No I.D.

Sometimes, you can tell a dish will overflow with flavor by just looking at the ingredients, and here’s the perfect example. Saba is already one of the most creative forces in modern hip-hop, but when you pair him with the legendary No I.D, we have ourselves a recipe that’s guaranteed to work. We keep an eye out for such gems on Hot Music Friday, so dig in.

“Johnny Dang” – That Mexican OT (feat. Paul Wall & DRODi)

Animated, lively and engaging, That Mexican OT has all the qualities an artist needs to hold a listener’s attention. Having Paul Wall and DRODi on the joint certainly helps his already strong case, so “Johnny Dang” is pretty much on point through and through. Give it a listen!

“Lost at Sea” – Rob Grant (feat. Lana Del Rey)

The era of the Nepo Daddy is officially underway. The refreshing part is that Lana Del Rey’s father, Mr. Rob Grant, is actually gifted with the skills and taste to deliver high-quality music. This co-sign from his superstar daughter surely enhances the product, but based on his previous singles, we have a good enough reason to believe that he’s got something special waiting for us when his album drops next weekend.

“Back to the Start” – Superfan

One of LA’s most promising new prospects, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kali Flanagan has a damn near perfect catalog as part of their alias, Superfan. We suggest you listen to everything they’ve put out thus far because there isn’t much, so let this be the song that hooks you in. We’re particularly excited to send this one your way on Hot Music Friday.

Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse (Soundtrack) – Metro Boomin

All-Star Weekend came early this year. In addition to the release of the highly anticipated animated phenomenon that is Spiderman: Across the Spider-VerseMetro Boomin was summoned to soundtrack the film and we couldn’t be more thrilled about it. For the project, the culture-shifting producer recruited a deep lineup of features such as FutureA$AP RockyLil Wayne21 Savage and Nas … and that isn’t even half of it!

Ison – Sevdaliza

Some artists are so unique that it almost feels wrong to try and put their artistry into words. Iranian-Dutch singer, songwriter and producer Sevdaliza is one such figure — all you should know is that her debut record is truly phenomenal and it’s all you need to get obsessed. We’re doing our part by bringing attention to her on Hot Music Friday, now it’s your turn to do yours by listening to her music.

Delusional  – Dev Lemons

Don’t let Dev Lemons fool you with her social media antics — there’s no doubt that she’s absolutely hilarious, but she’s also a serious musician. Look no further than her debut EP, Delusional, to understand what we mean. She remains on brand with the silliness in her videos, but the music is as fantastic as she is funny.
